I have a compac laptop which I would like to use with a wireless DSL router.

It's about 5 years old, AMD Athlon4 running XP with USB ports and a card slot on the side which I am not sure what plugs in there but it does have a double flap type door and an eject button (forgive my ignorance :blast )

What do I need to buy to make this so?

Hi mate

Has your lappy got wifi? If not you will need a wireless adaptor ie pen stick type pcime (card slot) card. Are you useing XP ? if so you will need service pack 2 then it is not very hard to set up (says he who has done loads) Then you will need a wireless router Belkin-Draytec etc. But above all make sure you encrypt it so other s**m:spitfire cant use your internet connection.

Hope this helps if unsure i would be glad to talk to you on the phone if that would help ?

Cheers for that steve. :thumb

Can you or anybody recommend a suitable (read cheepest) router and adapter for my laptop.

I understand I need an ASDL router as I recieve my broadband from the telephone company which is Kingston Communications.

It is advertised as 8meg broadband although I'm not sure which to buy.
