Wiring a 2610 to a 1200GS Adventure

Anyone out there give me a quick how to - or at least a what not to - re wiring my 2610 into this new Canbus GS. My old bike was an 1150GS and it was easy to stick the thing straight across the battery if needed. Can I do that with this new thing? Is there a handy accessories plug I can hijack?

Mine is wired directly to the battery, but that means the socket that connects to the back of the GPS is permanently live which might be the cause of eventual corrosion. If you wire it into the back of the accessory socket the GPS switches off when the keys are removed.

Mine is wired directly to the battery also, I may put a switch into it shortly. I wired it so as I didn't want to switch off the 2610 with the ignition.
