After 12 years of sterling service my old Autocom system finally gave up and has gone to that great RadioShack in the sky.

I cut the old power lead leaving about 6" which was wired into the bike loom somewhere near the tail light and now have a new unit and new power lead to connect up somehow.

My question is..........Am I OK to somehow just join the new power lead to the portion of the old power lead remaining and if so what would be the best connectors to use?

OR..........should I get someone who knows much more about these things (which is practically anybody) remove the old lead connections from the bike loom and rewire the new lead directly into it again?

Hope this makes sense?

Thanks in advance. :thumb2

Yes, and any way you want to. Best way is to wrap the wires together and solder them but any sort of connection will work to varying degrees.
