Wiring ipod for power

Hi, query for a friend. He has an ipod and wants to have it charged whilst the bike is on. Stored under his seat at the moment. It has the old ipod charge/data cable connection with USB on at the end at the moment.
He does not want to plug that into a hela adapter for fear of it working lose or getting knocked etc, and wants to keep it all tucked away out of sight under the seat.

Any suggestions please?
