Wiring Question

Hi folks, I need a bit of help with a wiring question. I have a 1150GS 2001 and am looking to connect a mount for the sat nav. I don't want to wire it directly to the battery as I am not too keen on the idea of it being permanently live. The idea is to wire it to the ignition so it is only live when I have the engine on. My question is, can anybody tell me the colour of the live and earth cables at the ignition barrel. Very simple answers please as electrics and me do not get along at all.

I think that the received wisdom on this board is that the supply should be permanently live as this avoids the GPS having to reboot every time you stop for a minute of two for petrol, a pee-break or similar.

If you're really concerned, fit a switch in the line.
