Won’t start..

My 07 has been stored for the winter so hasn’t run for a couple of months.
Though turning over ok It won’t start.The fuel pump doesn’t make the usual initial hum when turning the ignition on.I assume this is the problem but I’m not sure what to check.I understand there’s no relay as such.Any suggestions please? Thanks.. (1200 Gs)

Sounds like a goosed fuel pump controller as suggested by JJH mine was changed by BMW recall might be worth contacting your dealer to see if yours is covered by recall too. Mines an 06

Thanks,I’m trying my nearest (60 miles away) Motorrad to find out if my bike is eligible but they’re pretty slow to respond so far.

Did you use a bypass lead to test wheather it’s the Fpc or not? JJH

I don’t have the necessary bits to make a cable unfortunately.If I test the power supply plug into the controller what should it read?

My knowledge doesn’t stretch that far. There is a lot of information online about this comon issue. Basically if you can temporarily bypass the fpc with a lead it will tell whether it’s gone or not. Armed with this information you can go to the dealer with a better idea what needs fixing/replacing. I had to buy one a good few years ago. About £70. JJH

Yes,it’s difficult to do without a spare blue plug as I don’t want to cut it off the controller, for obvious reasons.

If you have access to a multimeter and know how to use it. Select 2-20 volts DC on the range. Unplug the blue plug exiting the fuel pump controller. Stick the 2 probes into the 2 holes in the plug, turn on ignition and you should get a 12 volt readout. If not the fpc is goosed. Also try spinning the motor over and see if there is any voltage or not. Plenty about this on the internet. Using this method will save you cutting the blue plug off and give you an idea of it's the fpc on not.

No voltage registered but there is when motor turning over.....

Managed to power the fuel pump which ran.Power to pump controller reads about 3-4 volts (blue/red cable) it’s inconclusive so far as I don’t know what the supply to the controller should read ?

No,power was held on via hand held contacts so not enough hands...

Have now confirmed the controller is ok,the problem as I feared is power supply to controller.Looks like an expensive trip to an expert...
