Wonder wheel and Nav 4

Good evening, yes there’s still some of us with a Nav |V out here R1200GS MY14

The wheel just used to toggle between a data screen and the map and has stopped working.

Anyone else experienced this? Any cures or is it just another electrical failure albeit after 8 years?

I’ve done a hard reset on the nav but no change and it’s £140 for a new wheel so if I’m going to spend that I’ll get a Nav V too and some more functionality.

Is it the same Nav cradle that BMW supplied for a |V and the V?

Is it the V| that has a different cradle?

The cradles are the same for IV, V and VI.

Mine stops working from time to time and the problem is never at the wheel. I found that if I give the Nav mount connections ( the brass pins ) and the Nav brass connector on the back of the Nav a good clean, then it would start working again. My bike lives outside under a heavy cover and it can get quite dusty down here, so I think it is that that is causing my problem's. I hope it sorts your bike out too, as its an easy fix.

I've also had this problem and was advised by a top man on here to do a software update on the Nav V and that cured it.

Yes before the wonderwheel, you could get a nav mount with four buttons =

The wonderwheel replaced all that

Hi DrRich, nothing special, just something that will clean the contacts up so that it makes a good connection.

I used to use electrical switch cleaner.

I use the wife's toothbrush and a little electrical cleaner sprayed onto the brush... (also good for getting dog shit out of the hard to clean pattern on the soles of my trainers). Always give it a good wash after use though...and sneakily pop it back into the bathroom, she's never noticed yet.
