I was told last week by two knowledgeable people that wonder wheels followed by autosol was the answer to cleaning my down pipes. Well i tried it yesterday and i'm not sure if i'm doing it right or not. I applied the wonder wheels and left for 30secs ( as instucted by wise men). Washed of with hose pipe and dried with clean cloth. Checked down pipes and the only difference was that the down pipes where now dull. Applied autosol and buffed to a nice golden colour.........can anyone else confirm if this is correct.

Thanks for any advice.

I've never got the nice blue colour of the 02 GS I had, with any of two later bikes inspite of wonder wheels / autosol combination. And, after looking at other bikes it might be like looking for the holy grail. But at least I know they're clean.

When i do mine it,s as follows
1/ apply wonderwheels to both pipes
2/ go back to the one i applied it to first & lightly scrub with scotchbrite (or wifes pan cleaner :D )
3/ rince off in cold water
4/ repeat on other side
5/ pollish if you like, i don't

I use Auto Glym wheel cleaner, don't ask me how I found out but it does work.

Wonderwheels

Used wonderwheels on my 1200GS downpipes/crossspipe.
Brought them up like new :) without polishing them.

This is where i'm getting confused..........the down pipes never looked any different after applying the wonder wheels (except duller) horrible brownie/blue marks still evendent.

Difficult to see. . . .

Have you considered that you may be wearing the wrong type of posing pouch whilst applying your polishes and lacquers? ;) ;)

If you're sat on the bike riding it's really hard to see the state of the downpipes :D :D
