Upto last December bike was fine had been out for a spin just to charge and circulate the oil. re-fueled, and all was fine. While out engine stalled got it going again and it seemed fine, then ran rough, so pulled over switched off, waited a short while and tuned it over, it fired up after a couple of turns, returned home, again was fine.

After the holidays recharged the battery and started it up, it was ok but after running for about 3 mins it stalled ( just packed up) since then It will turn over but nothing, I have cleaned the plugs (new last year). Have drained and replaced the fuel with new today.
I have hot wired the side stand switch by the white and brown wire ( replacement on order), have managed to get it to run BUT it runs for about 3 seconds and no more, have spark from plug and used the car to give the battery a bit of a punch, can any one shine a light on my Problem I get a whirl noise when I turn the key as normal. also all light come on dash with key turned on.

Thanks Bill

Also forgot to add once running if I wind the throttle it stalls. (like NO fuel).

Hall Effect sensor or multiple coil-packs. HES sounds most likely. Side-stand switch and clutch lever switch stop the starter motor from operating.

Thank you you guys,I will get on with it Saturday and let you know how I get on.
Also my replacement side stand switch, I ordered it off Ebay, which was from James Sherlock in Devon.

I ordered it yesterday and it was on the matt when I arrived Home today.

Fantastic service from them Thankyou .Bill

Bill Steptoes link is a possibility, happened to me 2 days after i purchased the bike.

Is the new alarm anything to worry about? maybe a misplaced wire?

Did you pus any additives in the fuel before wintering? If you say it runs ~ 3 secs and then stalls, I think it might have something to do with what is inside the tank. Oh, you swapped the gas already and no joy. Did it have any water on the bottom of the tank?

If the issue is not inside the tank, it might be some sort of electrical problem, like HES wiring or so. Does the rev meter act crazy while trying to start it? Are you willing to take off the HES plate and have a look at the insulation on the wires and see how cracked it is, if it is?

Dan.

Worth a try.......

I may contact you If I have no luck, if thats ok.

I am replacing the side stand switch and have already replaced the fuel tomoz with recharge the battery for me to try and re start it Sunday.

What I dont understand is, it was running brilliantly, and was demisting the engine well, as it was a cold morning, revs where well up, and choke 3/4 open, when it just stopped, Like if it was on battery power and I had pulled the wire out, and then would not restart.
