Would you buy winter tyres?

I reckon they must be just sticky compound road tyres, cant find any reviews though, just wondered what mcn mean by this link.
Stick with 4 tyres on bad days.
 
In the pic there might be some studded tires on the X.
Mine is getting some soon :)

Studded tyres are not much good in UK when even in the worst years the main roads are more or less clear but side roads are like the S1000RR image. When its that cold a bike is all but useless anyway. Im thinking about 1981 when we saw -20 is some parts of the Midlands and -15 was quite common that year.
 
Yep, some very low stud (like those we use in cars) might work there.

However, we do have loads of snow here again. Temperature has been around -5C and few weeks ago it dropped to -20 ... -25C for few days.

We took a 180 km ride last weekend.

Not studded but winter road tyres, having been in very cold countries and seen how impressive the grip is I would definitely be tempted to put them on the GS.
