It would be nice if the person wanting info would let us know what they are riding at the minute.

I've currently got a VTR1000 - piped, jetted & canned and making a slightly mad 80 ft/lb torque. Ohlins front and back, and a bunch of other stuff. Its a great bike for Sundays, though its too much for the south east of england these days (and i'm getting too old). I've run down through France a couple of times on it with the wife, but 30mpg and a 90 mile tank range doesn't make a good touring bike. Hence the 1150GS...

I've always had Hondas (except for a couple of LC's a long time ago), but wife had an F650 for while which was a nice little bike. The vfr is a very dull bike, i dont fancy either a big touring bus like the st or a rocket ship like the blackbird.

The 1150 seems perfect for some touring, runs up to Scotland & the lakes and the odd commute.

I agree, but I wonder how many will be left? In spain there are relatively few left now. Bu hey if you are in no rush and you would be happy with new or very nice second hand then why not wait?

Agree with Bob. I just bought the last Silver 1150Adventure in stock in France. Pick it up next week. It looks like a thing of rare beauty compared with the pics of the 1200 version. It's all a matter of taste I know, but the silver Adventure with the red/grey seat just does it for me...only a week till I get the keys in my grubby mitts, then it's running it in the first weekend :D

And another thing.. (wish I'd stop hitting return before I finish typing)...People go on about the GS gearbox woes, and the worst culprits (according to the UK press anyway) were the early models. I've got a GS1100 registered June 1994, so probably one of THE first in the UK, and despite 70,000 miles of being thrashed, wheelied and generally given a hard life, it hasn't ever given me a problem...that's why I'm buying a new one. Probably, 10 years down the road, I'll chop that in and buy an old Airhead like the Paris Dakar I sold to buy the GS1100...sorry Judge ;-))

There are deals to be had

Simply for info...

I've just splashed out on a new Adventure and I was able to negotiate what I consider to be a very good discount (effectively got the ABS free). I didn't have anything to Px, but I did want a black one (the bike that is) and some specific extras fitted (ABS, Heated Grips, Enduro Box, Big Tank and Engine Bars). I've been able to get exactly what I wanted and for less than I've seen some s/h bikes advertised for.

The deals are out there at the moment (possible due to the 1200GS euphoria); you've just got to find them.
