Wunderlich head protection bars

Similar with better mounts

Same style of crash bar is available from ADV Designs: http://www.advdesigns.net/bmw20r1gseng.html
Has a better connection to the stock crash bars, Wunderlich is overly fond of those flimsy rubber coated electrical conduit clamps!

I have a set of the Wunderlich bars on my '09 GSA. Right side must be removed in order to service the valves. On the left, there's enough room to fiddle the cylinder head guard out and remove the cam cover, but it's easy enough to remove the guard.

Haven't had a tip over with them mounted, but they should certainly add to the protection.

Hmm, thanks Gambit. The ADV Designs version does look a bit more solid, although it looks like the screw that connects the crashbar bracket to the crashbar is about the same size as the Wunderlich one and my guess would be that this may be the weakest link. They're also quite a bit more expensive than Wunderlich at current exchange rates and Wunderlich aren't known over here for being a charity. $269 (£172) vs 149 Euro (£130).

Is it worth the difference ? I'm thinking that the clamp is probably not a major stress point, i.e. it 's the other tubes which do most of the work and this is just a stabilising bracket.

If the Wunderlich ones work (not seen any feedback yet folks) then why spend the extra ?

I've emailed ADV Designs to see whether they sell the clamp separately. I seem to recall a post on advrider suggesting that they do, and that they will work with the Wunderlich bars.

Given Wunderlich's inclination to relieve us of many £££s for things that are often a lot more reasonable elsewhere......

Has anyone seen any alternatives to these ? Other than the ADV Designs ones that Gambit has mentioned ?

Cheers
