Hi Guys,
I'm slightly at my wits end. Since I bought my relatively low miles (9400) x-country last September I have had a few issues. First steering head bearings were shot. I bought bit online assured it was up together but there you go. Next some scrot nicked the instrument panel and then shortly after in mid October it developed a fault. I use the bike for an 18 mile each way commute into central London after between 8 and 10 miles in the bike died when the throttle was shut off. Started again ok but repeated the fault every time the throttle was closed.
I took it to a local repair guy who is a trained BMW 'technician' who plugged in a diagnostic thingy and could see the cut outs. he reset everything and ok was ok for 2 days. He then suggested that it needed a 'part' and put it on order. I couldn't use the bike with the fault as filtering in London often left me stranded in the middle of the road with a dead bike. Not ideal.
Fast forward 4 months (as it took that long to get the illusive part from BMW) £250 bill part fitted used the bike and the fault is still there!!! I generally ride all year round but had to use the train for around 4 months while waiting. The long awaited part was the ignition pick up which was around £180 + labour BTW
I took the bike back and the technician used it for a week and couldn't replicate the fault. He then mentioned something about a throttle sensor and replaced that. Last week I picked the bike up and used it without fault on the usual commute for three days....happy days
.
Today all full of hope and the sun is out. Off to Londinium and 8 miles in same fault. Bastard thing dies on throttle shut off. Rest of the time the bike runs well and is fun but totally useless in traffic.
Sorry for the long post. Anyone else had this kind of experience and fixed it?
Not sure what to do next.
