XC centre stand query

I just bought an SW Motech centre stand for the X-Challenge. I notice it does not have a 'foot lever' to help lift the bike on the centre stand. Is this right?
As I don't have pannier frames to grab the bike, how do you 'get it up'? Hotrods' pannier frame would be good but an expensive grab handle... Thanks

For future reference if anyone is interested, SW Motech used to supply a handle (see pic below) but not anymore. I understand from HU & AdvRider most people carry a strap or rope to get around this.

I ended up taking mine off as I didn't really need it; used the pannier rails to assist getting it up when it was on though.

I kept the mounting brackets on the bike as frame/brake protectors. Always thought the stand was a strange design, but presumably there was a reason.
