Hi all, anyone have ideas where I can get a conversion kit for dip beam as I do a lot of night riding from London back to the countryside. Apart from car drivers, the little bunnies and deer make it fun at night!!!

Cheers:beerjug:

I've had success with the HID conversion kits on ebay though single filament bulbs ie where separate bulbs are used for hi and low beams seem to offer better beam cutoff accuracy than the dual hi/lo (ie H4) types.

PS most "aftermarket" HID fitments arent likely to be "road" legal, I think theres something in UK contructions and use regs requiring self leveling for HID headlamps, but neither is fitting hi wattage halogen bulbs either.

HiD type H4-3 35 watt 6000K due in stock Monday, Ultra Slim ballast @ £70 plus post :thumb2

Also H7 Ultra Slim 50 watt 6000k kits in stock :o should read all the post first.

Les put 50 watt HIDs main and dip on my 1200 on Monday. I went out tonight and what a difference! He does a very neat job, too.

Look for user Diane Shop on Ebay

Have you encountered any delay when switching from low to high beam and vice versa with these HIDS?

I bought one from abroad before Colebatch or Les made themselves known to me.

I had it for 12 months before it exploded whilst in France!!!!

Les is now sourcing me new bulbs of a far better quality.

The H4 kit fitted to Mrs Flips Transalp is very good. Excellent quality and faultless performance. Hi beam on hers is a solonoid action so no delay. Some kits have 2 bulbs, these have a delay when switching. Currently trying to work out a solution to increase light power on hi beam with the 2 bulb lights.

The ultra slim ballasts are worth the extra, plus if you have any issues with the kit, a UK source will fix it no question. Also, be aware that you can get hit with an import (think VAT) tax. I got hit 6 weeks after delivery!!!!!

Just my 2 penneth

none at all

The high / low is just a shield thats moved by the switch which redirects the beam - the bulb is always on.

Has anyone who has fitted a HID conversion to their 1200 GS had any problems with other drivers flashing them due to glare / increased light output from the conversion. Also does the conversion effect the bulb failure warning system?
