Hi

I have a 1992 bike with about 42000 miles. I picked it up with relatively little service information, other than an assurance of 'regular oil changes' so I am being quite careful with maintenance.

I am struggling to find any references to cam chain life.

Please, does anyone know the recommended life of the cam chain on this model?

It will also eat drive chains. A snotoiler high up where you can see it will be a great benefit. Under the seat its all too often out of sight out of mind.

My old MZ 250 (bear with me), underpowered that it was, could chew a chain in under 10K even with regular lubes - and MZ chains are protected from grit. The Scot oiler had to be fitted at the front sprocket as the back end is fully enclosed. But as it dropped oil onto the unloaded side of the chain I'm sure it soaked into the links a lot better. I sold the bike with a half used chain that had never needed another adjustment after the oiler was fitted and by then had 18K miles on it.
