Now... I dont see any problems with this. It seems fair for all.

Same old 'eck...same tired old bluster....same 'they'll do as I tell them'.....same old 'no answers'... same old waffle....same old complete ignorance of money markets and finance.....merely re-inforcing my views... Bad week for eck and the accolytes.

Why is Salmond so keen on having the pound when just a few years ago he was extolling the benefits to Scotland of being in the EU and using the Euro?
Why does he want independence yet have a foreign country setting the interest rates be it England or the EU?

Or is it just Independence Light, then if the economy doesn't work out to everyones expectations the nationalists can still blame England for all the woes of Scotland.

Have you taken the time to watch the feckin video ?

A few years ago the Euro was doing ok. Now it aint and it would be a stupid currency to adopt, wouldn't it?
Why shouldn't we keep on using what we use now. Its not exclusively yours.

And, as for the 'blame England if the economy doesn't work out'. Yes. Maybe we will .... because in all probability it will be your fault.

Why do you think we are doing this ? Is it because the country is so 'fair, Just, and well managed' ? You would say to someone who was not happy with their job, "leave, try something else". Well, rightly or wrongly, we are not happy with the present situation on many levels. Its not a new thing. We tried in the seventies, failed because of the ridiculous vote requirements, and are trying again.
Stop being so negative. You will like us even less if we fail. It will be a different ball game then. If you think we are 'troublesome' now, I genuinely have concerns for the future in the event of a NO vote.

I'm truly touched that so many prominent important people are concerned enough to put their names to a letter urging us not to leave.

Sandy Shaw. That bare footed singer who won Eurovision with Puppet on a string. Such a contribution to the world.
Ross Kemp. Fine actor who has influenced generations of folk with his portrayal of murdering, tax dodging, wife beating small time gangsters.
Sara Cox, who selflessly plays music for the whole country. Working so hard in this backbreaking industry. (would still shag the little tits off her though)
Gyles Brandreth. Top buffoon who has worn his fingers to the bone supporting the Scottish wool industry by knitting jumpers.
Tracey Emin. World renowned artist. Tirelessly toiling to provide installations of intricate beauty. A real asset to UK culture.
Sting. Knows everything about poor hungry native people from deprived communities.
Tom Daley. Helping UK industry by repeatedly jumping into water without making a splash.
Betty Jackson. How would the world cope without your porcelain 'Radiance' tea saucer design.

Most of these people dont have the luxury of a real job. Busy folk who, even though they are really busy wondering who's designer dress they are going to wear to the awards ceremonies, still are concerned enough to think of the plight of the Scots and their foolhardiness.

I feel, in the light of this, I should reconsider my options. Imagine not having Cliff Richard as a countryman. Or Jenny Agutter being a foreigner.
We will be so alone in this big world.

They must be really upset that Peaches Geldof isn't around to add her considerable weight to the "No" campaign..................

Why do you think we are doing this ? Is it because the country is so 'fair, Just, and well managed' ?

We keep hearing that an independent Scotland will be more fair and equal but no detail on how this will happen. Will workers all be given wage rises to bring us up to the same income as the top earners? Will the top earners be taxed to bring their take home pay down to the level of the poorest paid? Will everybody be given an automatic top grade in exams? Will ugly people be given face lifts to make them as attractive as the beautiful people? Will there be jobs for everybody or will we all be paid equally to sit at home and take our daily "equal" doses of methadone?

Its time to start putting meat on the bones. What will be the income tax rate and bands? What VAT will we pay and what will be VAT exempt? What cap if any will be put on council tax rises? What fuel duty will we pay? Will there be any cap on unemployment, child and housing benefits or is there to be unlimited access to these regardless of whether there needs to be increased taxation or borrowing to pay for it?

At the moment all we are offered are broad statements about fairness and equality and justice without detail about who will decide what is fair and what we are to be equal to. Inequalities are the natural result of living in a free society. Whether through luck, skill, or determination, some people will always succeed more than others.

You forgot, fraud, tax avoidance, contributions to the right party, what school you put on your CV, bonuses for failure, exploitation of workers. All of which are rife in our free society.

Bennydad. It is impossible to know how a new business will perform until it is up and running and you know exactly what you have to work with. Without taking risks no-one would ever get ahead. Without delving into the unknown with a few theories and principles in your back pocket, you wouldn't be able to light your house with electricity.
The theory behind the first nuclear explosion said that a chain reaction would start and blow-up the world. It didn't.
Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and through your .. ' luck, skill and determination' we might just succeed.

Are you are saying that, as a country we are not good/intellegent/responsible/wealthy enough to succeed, or at the very least, stay afloat ? Are you saying that we need a superior country to compensate for our shortcomings. Are you saying that we are irrelevant to the running of the uk since our vote doesnt influence the outcome of who gets into power?

Whats the point in anyone in Scotland ever voting again in a general election if we lose. It will make no difference. We will remain totally impotent, and when Mr Farage and his cronies (who will have influence) get a foothold in the UK government, and they vote to leave the EU, we up here could all vote for God himself .... but he will still lose his deposit.
Is this what you want? Seriously? Because you might have a few quid less in your pocket?

Its easy to quote what is wrong with our current society. I could quote benefits fraud, inefficiencies in the way councils and the NHS are run, massive corruption in the eu budget and masonic hand shakes all of which are rife but it tells you nothing about what a government is going to do about it. For the record Scotland is good/intellegent/responsible/wealthy enough to succeed. Whether a government wedded to outdated left wing principals is good/intellegent/responsible/wealthy enough to succeed is another matter.

Until they tell us how the Scottish socialist government is going to do better than previous UK socialist governments I am being asked to vote for a pig in a poke. Its like a family budget. In a year when things have been tough, through no fault of the working dad and mum, and there is not enough cash for the family holiday you have promised the kids. Do you sit down and explain that this year it is Broughty Ferry for a week rather than Benidorm for a fortnight or do you pop down to Quick Quid and borrow to fund the holiday and hope something turns up before the bailiffs arrive to take away the freezer and the flat screen telly?

Successive left wing governments have done well for the people while the economy was running along nicely but always avoided the difficult decisions because it wanted to avoid the howls from the kids when you told them the holiday was not going to happen. Each time they have avoided the hard decisions it has ended up with a right wing government coming in with the sort of bitter pills that I dislike as much as you to keep the bailiffs from calling. Tell us specifics about the tough decisions an independent Scottish government is prepared to make. Here is your starter for ten. Will there be any cap on unemployment, child and housing benefits or is there to be unlimited access to these regardless of whether there needs to be increased taxation or borrowing to pay for it?

Whether a government wedded to outdated left wing principals [sic] is good/intellegent [sic]/responsible/wealthy enough to succeed is another matter.

There is nothing "outdated" about left wing principles. What is outdated is global capitalism and the fact that it really only works for a very small elite and keeps the middle classes dangling on the end of a carrot that promises they could make it if only......while comprehensively disenfranchising the underclass and then blaming them for being benefit scroungers.

OK Comrade. After the revolution you had better put me on one of your lists for shipment to the gulag because I own my own house and all property is theft in the planet you inhabit.

On a scale of 1 : 10 for ridiculous generalisations.......

Good god have the Scottish people lost their fecking mind.

You want independence .... Go for it!

But don't expect The Bank of England to act as underwriters for that independence.

Your independence brings you just that INDEPENDANCE !!

No fucking way are you picking what you retain in this divorce. Would you let your ex wife have access to your bank account and
Underwrite any foolishness she may get up to in the future ?

I'm thinking a large number of people north of the boarder are a bit thick.

If you want to leave the UK fuck off and get on with it. You'll be just another " Country" for a time at least outside of the European Union.
That Salmond bloke is starting to piss me right off. Stupid twat that he is.

Get the fuck on with it, you've got Scottish bank notes use them and run your economy through the Scottish pound and the bank of Scotland not the Bank of England.

I hope we get the chance to cut you loose after this referendum altogether.
Since when can a country claim to be stand alone and run its currency through another country ?? Yer a fecking joke, think I'd be highly embarrassed by that idiot leader of yours. The term " the pound" your welcome to, but not Sterling!!!

The usual Anglocentric bollocks. Sterling is a joint currency, it's not just England's.

The captain makes some good points even if he does it rudely. WTF is a 'joint currency'? Your grasp of what money is and how money works is on par with your grasp of what 'independence' is.

But you believe in 'independence' so you are a real Scot

More Anglocentric bollocks and irony thrown in for good measure.....

Anglocentric? More of your usual empty rhetoric to cover up your complete lack idea of what independence or currency is.

It's the fucking BANK OF ENGLAND !!!!

Why not create the Scottish pound underwritten by the BANK OF SCOTLAND ????

Oh hang on you have Scottish bank notes already !!!!

When you leave you will be a stand alone country..... You know kind of like INDEPENDENT !!

Keep the oil and go for it.....

Who sets your interest rates and controls your fiscal policy as and independent country operating through a foreign countries banking system ? Alec fecking Salmond ?? Get fucking real ... Pleeeeeease!! :blast

You missed out the irony bit. I can see why....... :JB

Irony? More of your usual empty rhetoric to cover up your complete lack idea of what independence or currency is. :comfort :D

Shouldn't you just bugger off, in the nicest possible way of course and mind your own business.... ? :thumb
