Soooo....taking advantage of the decent spell of weather...

Got home from Ullers on Sunday pm, Got going early Mon am, left here about 7 ish, up to Braemar, over to Donside, over the Lecht, Tomintoul, to Grantown...all in the early morning sun (although it dropped to 7 degs between the Dee and the Don)

Breakfast in Macleans....sadly minus the saucy wee blonde that I'd seen there on Sat.....juicy little thing with a firm young body, but not too young....I digress...and met up with chums.

On to Cawdor then Culloden, juice in the Longman and on to Chanonry Point, where (yet again) the dolphins failed to put in an appearance and on to Cromarty. Thence to Nigg via the wee(very) ferry and on to Tain for a bowl of soup in the very excellent Gows.

From there a tour to Bonar Bridge, a hurl up Strath Oykel to Ledmore and a gallivant along to Lochinver to view ....(but not buy) the most expensive pies in the western world.

After tea and a bun, back the way and along the finest strip of tarmac in Europe through Kylesku, Scourie etc etc up to the lazy Crofter hostel at Durness, to meet up with Jim Wright and a fellow wicker. A celebratory dram or two and along to Sango Sands for fish chips, crofters grills and such and back to the hostel to finish the bottle.

A leisurely start this am, reinforced with Irvines sausages, down to Laxford Bridge and then through the magnificent Reay Forest, past stalking parties complete with ponies going to the hill, to Lairg and the Pier Cafe to expectations of being served by the lovely young thing that was there the last day. Sadly she must have been at school...there was only a couple of blokes...probably poofters...but a decent cup of coffee before we set off to Bonar Bridge, over the Struy road and eventually down the A9 and thus to Pitlochry, home by 3 to do some work.

Yet another fine couple of days doing what the bike does best. A topper.

Dahb you Gerry! Dursing a feckin biserable code here! Good excuse for a toddy though! :D

And I've been working since Friday :(
Tangine has been tucked up recovering from her trip to Germany! Happily sustenance is on order for her with Ghiribizzo looking to lay his caring hands on her saggy bottom!

Expecting what they cry!!

Weeell..... the next episode of my week reveals all..

Up at 3.30 this am, wifey drove me to Embra aerodrome for flight to Gatwick.

Train to Victoria and cab to ........BMW Park Lane to complete the deal on my new bikey!!!

A 15 plate black 1200GS TE LC with all the goodies....

Ages taken to go through paperwork, bike, controls etc and finally launched into Park Lane a minute or so before 11. Horrendous crawl up the Edgware Road through all sorts of ethnic looking places, and finally on to the M1 at Staples Corner. Horrible experience for an old geezer now used to sheep and coos.

Awful traffic, lots of stopping and starting(except the M6 Toll....when can we have some more?), several prangs on M6 in dry weather caused by knobs hitting other knobs, just missed a coorse shower at The Manchester Ship Canal and on to the first stop for juice and a sarny at Charnock Richard. On north to Gretna where luck ran out at Gretna and it started pishing down....which it did all the way home until I arrived in black dark at 8pm. A quick refuel at Old Inns to clean glasses visor etc on the way.

First impressions?

The extra horses certainly noticeable and welcome.

Surprised at the effectiveness of the OE screen.

Don't understand the wailing and angst about using the cruise control...piece of piss mastered in a few goes....all that's needed is a bit of engine sympathy. Certainly used the cruise a lot and very like it. Didn't use it in heavy traffic...prefer experienced right wrist, and same in rain.

Used gear change assist and found it very good...the only issue is remembering to use it!

A very nice machine indeed.

Lots to learn about but I may now take a break from biking for a day or two...getting too old for these carryings on!!

Now knackered and enjoying (several) drams.

Park Lane BMW certainly know how to drag out the buying process!

I bought a K1200GT 'Superbrick' there in 2005. I went down overnight on a coach (Never Again) and was waiting outside when they opened.

They cocked-up my card payment - which took me an hour or so to sort out with the bank then, with all the faffing about it was 13:00 before I hit the lunch-time rush in Park Lane () only to find that I couldn't change up as my boot wouldn't fit under the gear lever - I had to use my heel .

Once on the M1 all was well, and I enjoyed discovering the howl from the airbox when accelerating (the transverse-engined K1200/1300s don't do it :nenau).

Glad you got home safely Gerry :thumb.

Bob.
