Recently I bought some relatively cheap "Ring" fog lights, and mounted them on my GS's engine bars. They're wired to the dip beam circuit, so they're on all the time, the intention being to use them as "marker lights" to improve the chances of other road users seeing the bike.

Anyway, over the weekend I rode through a few fords, and when I got home, I found the glass in both lights had shattered. I can only assume that the cold water hit the hot glass with the obvious results.

So the question is - can anyone recommend a relatively small fog light with has been proven to be able to stand up to cold water when it's hot?

I know a lot of people mount fogs on their light bars, which would keep it further away from the water, but (IMHO) this isn't really suitable for permanently on running lights.

Thanks for any advice :)

Hella FF50 fog lights or better still spend a few quid more and have the Hella Micro DE's.

But its not that good idea mounting them on crash bars anyway, vibration has been known to cause lights of any make to fail.

Plus, Ring lights are at the bottom end of the market, Hella are superb value for the money IMHO

Hehe you're right there :) I wonder if Halfrauds will give me my money back :D

Can you recommend where to buy Hellas from? I haven't seen them in any shops, and I prefer to see before I buy, but I'm willing to go on the advice given here and get some "micro DEs" mail order if necessary.

Also, about the vibration, I'm willing to accept that I may blow a few more bulbs by having the lamps on the crash bars - I like the odd pattern of light it makes. Plus I have made some rubber mountings for them so I think it won't be a huge problem.

Cheers for the advice :)

He appears to have PMs turned off. BTBR, if you read this, and you can supply the Hellas, could you PM or email me please with prices? Thanks very much.
