I very nearly went for the Specialized without looking at the alternatives, but for the money, the Cube has it nailed.
Having never ridden an ebike before, and with nobody offering demos at the moment, I had to take a bit of a punt, but am glad I did now.
Agreed on the buying local, but at the moment, that could be tricky for you? The nearest Specialized dealer to me is about 20 miles away, which is a bit too far, if I have any issues. Especially as it would be quite an effort to lift this thing in and out of the car, battery or not. It probably wouldn’t even fit in the car anyway, unless I remove both wheels.
Saying that though, the guys I got mine from are the biggest ebike dealer in the UK, or so they claim, so will get the bike set up for you and ship it. All you’ll need to do is put the front wheel/seat/pedals/handlebars on, and away you go. If you’ve got someone local to you that can service it without getting stroppy that they didn’t supply the bike, then online will get the best deals.
If you do go down the Cube route, and buy online, there’s another online dealer offering bikes with around 10% off, so you can still save a decent amount, if you can wait a couple of weeks for delivery.
