You couldn't make it up...

Thats the one to do
Good luck and I admire your patience

Its nothing to do with patience , as I get older (54) I have less tolerance with dealing with crap, remember the OP has bought a bike circa £15k , a premium product. £15k gets a nice car nowadays and you wouldn’t put up with the problems he has had.
The time delay alone has shown BMW treating him with contempt.
Get a good Solicitor and fire off a letter for starters ,cost a few hundred quid but show you mean business.

There is a new update 022 005 041 which is available in the UK which does cure the Bluetooth/Connectivity issues.

That's the one Lind put on mine Friday - so far been perfect and not once dropped out, whereas before it would pretty much drop out every time the ignition was switched off.

I had given up with it.

Just about anything is do-able as long as BMW UK and Germany bother themselves to sort out a work around .

When i got my last GSA it was a special order Basic with the options ticked that I wanted, basically a TE model minus ESA, TFT option, SOS, GSAP and keyless, despite being specced with computer pro and sat nav prep the factory forgot to fit them and quality control missed the fact they were not fitted

The sat nav prep was not a problem but cost BMW double the price of the factory option ,the computer pro , however, was more problematic, BMW UK insisted that it could not be done and I was offered a straight swap for a fully specced up TE model sitting in the dealers showroom which I rejected.

BMW UK technical got in touch with the factory who wrote up a one off software update for my bike and lo and behold I had Computer Pro.

If BMW continue to drag their heels get in touch with Consumer Advice they will raise a case number and give you a reference number, they will also advise you as to a your course of action from there .

If you follow their advice and then inform your dealer of the course of action it will definitely get the wheels moving

Thanks for the comments all, I'm going to speak to Williams BMW and see if there is a more up to date TFT software, it's worth giving it a go especially after the feedback i've had from some people saying it's made significant improvements.

What software version in the TFT are you running?

Well talked about on the R1200 R1250 RS forum

My new 1250gs has version 001_019_180 only delivered in August and 600 mile service on 4th sept, don’t they update to latest version as a matter of course ?

I doubt it due to the length of time it can take.

Mine was updated FOC due to an error message - took around 5 hours to complete.

Is it having issues with connections dropping out?

Yes at times, with iPhone and cardo headsets

Was watching Nick Hodges YouTube video last night taking his new 1250GSA for it's first service, he's got the latest TFT update ending in 041 and he said of his 3 TFT equipped BM's hes had it's by far the worst. Apparently when he gets calls he can answer them but the quality is like he's on the fringe of network coverage, which he isn't.

I watched some of it, thought he had an older version and was wanting it updated to the latest??

Nah, he's got a newer version that me, in the video he zoomed it and it was the version everyone on the Facebook groups is saying is the latest and has been updated recently so I presume it's the latest.

Might as well cancel my appointment for an update then:blast
They need the bike all day in case of a fail part way through, why who knows you think it should be a 10 min update tops:rolleyes:
Not sure how old my current version is 001_019_180

I’m having my 600 mile first service tomorrow, bits added and software updated, but I don’t need to be there until 2pm ! Think I’ll take my sleeping bag just in case.

I had my 1250 GS updated to
001-018-180 in early April 2019, had it done again since to 021-104-020 mid July 2020, never had a problem with the TFT forgetting Samsung phone or Packtalk Bold. Tell the dealer that you are having 'connection problems' (I wasn't, but lied anyway to get the latest version) whilst they had it for servicing. They don't seem to mind if you have already prearranged it. Best of luck.

Thanks again all, I actually contacted the guys at Connected Ride in Germany after seeing their podcast where the acknowledged the issue with the TFT losing/deleting/forgetting it's pairings. They were quick to reply with a standard set of questions/suggestions all of which I had tried but I emailed them back and very specifically told them the facts.

1. At least 7 different phones, only 2 of which are iPhones have been paired to my TFT, plus at least 2 headsets.
2. None of the phones had battery saving mode turned on, all were updated to the latest software and the only running app was the Connected app from BMW.
3. The phones were placed either on the seat or in my hand stood at the side of the bike.
4. The dealer has also replicated this problem, without my iPhone paired to the TFT and said phone was 14 miles away from the dealership for the 3 weeks they had it.
5. App settings allow full access to location all the time etc.
6. No battery tenders are connected to the bike.

Having given them all that info they have decided to email me back to tell me that the problem I am personally experiencing lays firmly at the shoes of my phone and more specifically iOS. They say that since iOS 13.3 Apple have made changes to how bluetooth is handled, which wouldn't surprise me and that as such the problem is not theirs and until Apple fix it, they cannot do anything.

To say I'm fuming is an understatement. It's almost like they didn't read any of the info I provided to them, and I assume that is the case because otherwise they are implying that my iPhone, 14miles away from the dealer, not paired to the TFT, was the cause of 2 Samsung phones they tried being "forgotten" by the TFT. Not to mention the headsets that were also forgotten.

I think I'm more annoyed because I work in the tech industry and even if I were to tell my iPhone to forget the TFT, that does not tell the TFT to do the same. My phone has no means to tell the TFT to delete all of it's pairings, it's just impossible.

But I think I'm gonna have to draw a line under this one and accept that in the grand scheme of things it's not the end of the world, it just niggles me that they are so arrogant as to ignore the facts. But I guess thats big brand names for you.
