I'll bung in a tenner if a fund is set up for her.

she may have a paypal account , would we simply need an email address to "wire-her" the monies promised above?

Can this be moved or a link to it dropped in the pub where it might get a few more contributors to a collection? I'll put a tenner in if it gets off the ground.
Yes, as soon as I've got an agreement from Maike that she'll accept the funds, I'll start a thread in the pub with a link to this one.BHT has agreed to set up a membership for Maike as well, if she chooses, so that folks can PM her.
I've spoken to my friend Calum who owns Saltire Motorcycles where her bike is in for repair and he tells me the bill is going to be c. £850 and it looks like Maike is going to have to pay it herself rather than claiming it on her insurance.
Many thanks to Sagalout for suggesting a whip around and the other folks who've offered to donate. Maike strikes me as a very communicative and extremely grateful young lady. I'm sure she'll be a bit overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness that's being offered.
Update: Maike is now in residence with my son and his partner, although they've got a prior engagement in Glasgow this evening. So Sye, who is still a member here although he's no longer active and who's visiting us from his home in The Wirral this weekend and I are going down to Edinburgh to take Maike out for dinner tonight.
Maike it transpires is only 18 and doesn't have a credit card or a PayPal account. She's already paid £150 to have her bike recovered to Saltire Motorcycles and is a bit shocked at the potential £850 bill for the repairs. However, my son and his partner have agreed that they will pay the bill for her, at least in the first instance.
Following on from Sagalout's very kind suggestion that members might care to donate some money to the cause, can I therefore suggest that any donations are paid into my son's partner's PayPal account - [email protected] In the process, you might also be interested in checking out jennytough.com and her adventures.
I'll post this up in the pub as well with a link to this thread.
Many thanks to everyone for their interest and in advance of any and all donations.![]()
