Your DON'T BUY products

Any Curry/PC world extended warranty. The like for like claim is rubbish. I took back a £200 steam generator iron after 18 months. Showed warranty and told just go and get one off the shelf. Same box, spec and colour but " sorry thats a different model you will have to pay extra £50 for that one, thats a AB12345 this is a BA12345". Only difference was one blue white and other white Blue, just changed colour way round. So in other words if you buy any product, laptop to a vac and then next day new stock comes in with a different number and price even if its technically the same you still have to pay up.. I asked to get it repaired and they said it would be done under warranty but take 3 or 4 weeks! Went home contacted manufacturer they said it had a 2 year warranty Currys said it was 1:mad:. They collected and swapped it in a week.
Wholly agree, Currys/PC World are utter shits and I will never ever spend a penny in their shops or online.

Not convinced jobs have been exported to India, as far as I know, JCB have factories in India but they have had those for many years in order to serve asian markets, India being one of their biggest, they also have factories in China, Brazil, and USA, all primarily built to service local markets. They have 11 factories in the UK, most are local to me so they are a massive local employer and major investor in the local area.

Many major businessmen are political donors, their money their choice. He may be pompous but very few fools become billionaires. It just so happens that the product is absolutely world class with about 75% being exported.

Sonos. Very buggy software and the reliability of speaker connectivity to the network varies from release to release. And several years ago, they decided, and backtracked, to say older speakers would soon become obsolete. A fantastic company and product when it started, now purely profit driven and a bunch of wankers it would seem.

JCB also created an academy college which focusses on engineering alongside the core curriculum, this has a great reputation and is helping feed the entry into industry for skilled youngsters.

Were there many people buying from JCB? I did consider an excavator for the shopping run ( it can be brutal on a Saturday morning ) but decided might be a bit wide on the drive, still, Where does a JCB park? Anywhere it damn well pleases, oops sorry, I appear to have parked on your car. :-) Glad I came her to set me straight and now I've the UKGSer court of opinion to help inform any future decisions.

The list of sh1t products and companies is a phenomenally long one.

Dyson or Cadbury products.
my heart bleeds for him

Electronics appliance maker Dyson has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed against it by 24 migrant workers, who alleged they were subjected to forced and abusive treatment in a Malaysian factory making the firm's parts.

The workers, from Nepal and Bangladesh, sued the firm in 2022 and described being subject to what amounted to modern day slavery.

Dyson has denied any liability. When the case was brought it said it had been previously unaware of the alleged abuses, and the Malaysia supplier should be held responsible instead.

The case is significant for establishing the precedent that allegations against foreign companies supplying British manufacturers can be judged in an English court.
The workers described being threatened and beaten, having their passports withheld, and being forced to work long hours in unsanitary conditions.

According to their lawyers, from Leigh Day, they were denied toilet breaks and forced to work "upwards of 12 hours at a time without relieving themselves".

Under the terms of the settlement the details of any compensation to the workers are not being disclosed.

In separate but almost identical statements posted on their websites, Dyson and Leigh Day said the resolution was reached "in recognition of the expenses of litigation and the benefits of settlement".

They both also said the settlement was not an admission of liability on Dyson's part.

The company had earlier argued that the case should be heard in Malaysia, not Britain.

But the Supreme Court agreed that the trial could take place in an English court, setting a precedent that British companies can be held to account in the UK for actions taken by suppliers in another country.

Labour activists have for many years drawn attention to the problem of abuses of the large migrant worker population in Malaysia.

Dyson, popular for its line of premium hair dryers and home appliances, moved its manufacturing from the UK to Malaysia in 2002.

The Airwrap maker moved its headquarters to Singapore in 2019.

Honey. Yes that preserve many love.
Many supermarket honey blends are often mixed with cheaper sugar syrups and may not be pure honey, leading to concerns about adulteration and lack of transparency.

It's advisable to check labels for the country of origin and look for single-source honey to ensure quality and authenticity.

Most supermarket honeys are labelled as blends of EU and non-EU honeys. This vague labelling can obscure the true origin and quality of the honey.

I now only buy from a sourced beekeeper, or from local market traders stalls, where they guarantee their honey as being pure and from their own bee hives.

Do not expect a good honey content where the price is below £8.00 a jar, something selling for around £1.79 a jar, do you even know what's in it, specially if it mostly from some foreign non-EU origin like Asia.

The taste tests are a factor also and a pure natural local honey is much, much better IMO.

Always find a place in the panniers on the return trip from Greece for a couple of large jars of their honey. Gorgeous stuff!

A few years ago a conwoman and her partner won a honey competition with supermarket honey relabelled as artisan. Honey is probably one of the most misleading labels products out there. JJH

Santander ferry to Spain. Bikes packed so close I had to climb over two rows of bikes to get to mine near the wall . I wouldn't like people climbing over my bike either. The crew ratchet down your bike to a steel wire running the length of the parking bay. As each bike is ratcheted down the wire gets progressively tighter meaning the first bikes are very compressed. When I released mine it sounded like an explosion with the suspension being freed. The front Ohlins on my K1200 R Sport leaked after that. One guy was complaining that his sidestand was damaged. Another guy had a damaged seat. Channel Tunnel in future.

When was this, please?

I always put my GSA on the centre stand (despite the crew protestations) so not to damage the suspension unduly

I claim the side stand is damaged and is inoperable

They accept it on all the ferries I have travelled on

I chok the wheels with wedges on the decks and it’s never moved

Once a crew member has ratcheted it down, I wait a few mins, faffing and then slacken it off to my satisfaction - they are busy elsewhere and not bothered

Never had a bike move in 30+ years on ferries

Centre stand always

I had a suspension failure after disembarking Bilbao ferry, about an hour into the tour. Had to drop into Motorad Pamplona where they relieved me of 500Euro for a secondhand unit!
Always wondered if the period of strap-down in the warm bowels of the ship was contributory...
