Your views on Schuberth helmets?

Comfort is subjective to the fit of the helmet.
I know that both the Guinness World Records done by Kevin & Julia Sanders were done wearing BMW helmets and that's a whole load of 1000 mile days back to back in all conditions - so the helmets are more than capable...
The question is - is it comfortable for you?
I had the Schuberth C1 and found it heavy and noisy, but comfortable. I used it daily for three years. It went to the Arctic and crossed the Sahara twice. I still have it and used it just recently for an off road day. Very happy with it.
I replaced it with a C2 which felt a bit tight to start with but it's bedded in very nicely now. I read an earlier comment about it being cold... I find it's the first helmet I've had with really good ventilation on the top of the head. On a hot day it's fantastic. On a cold day, you just close the vent and it's plenty warm enough for me. Much quieter than the C1 and lighter. The only criticisms (minor) are that it's harder to release the chin piece (but you do get used to it) and there's not quite as much air passing when you pull the visor forward so there's a small tendency to mist slightly.
I ride each and every day so all weathers etc.
I would happily buy another C1 or C2. Haven't tried the C3 yet...

I got a S1 at the bike show and so far been really impressed. I only paid £180 as the S1 pro was £450 
and imo it`s not £270 better 
It is noticably quieter than my Shoei XR900, I wear earplugs regardless, and the visor doesn`t leak either. The dark visor is brill and although it seems a snugger fit than my Shoei I can still get my ipod earplug speakers in
I`m a bit unsure that it`ll be too warm when I`m in France as it seems to be a warm lid but I`ll just have to wait and see.

Bought A C3 from HG a month ago. Very comfortable and quiet. easy to fit, no issues in the rain etc..

The top vent actuator lasted 1 ride before it departed.. I returned it to HG. it was replaced and guess what.. after one ride, it fell out again. one of my mates stopped and picked up the part!! he said it flew out from my helmet..
HG told me they have never had issues with Schuberth however they had to go on a training course to show them how to replace this item and repair another couple of Schuberth Issues. I couldn't get them to explain the other issues.
It's a dilemma because it is a very comfortable and quiet helmet, but I keep having to go back to my Arai whilst the schuberth is fixed... think it's time for my money back..

I have three Schuberth helmets : S1, J1 & C3, they are one of a very few helmets that fit my head.
The J1 is a fantastic helmet for the summer.
I find the C3 is too claustrophobic behind a taller GS screen, but on my Ducati Monster 1100S it is very good, very quiet & stable. I have had no issues with build quality.
Can I tell you all the ONLY thing that works for riding into bright sun, put black tape very neatly across the top of your visor on the outside, and completely block out the sun, it works fantastically, and can look perfect if done well.
I was given this tip while riding with friends in California and it has transformed my Summer riding. This in conjunction with the drop down sun visor covers all conditions.

Hmm, this is all so very confusing.
I very foolishly bought an AGV Stealth mail-order after my local shop did not have them in stock, and then found that the design had changed, and the new one was really painful to wear (the cut-outs round the ear are different from the one I tried), so I am back wearing my 10 year old AGV (no idea of the model) while I work out what else to buy. I really want something as quiet as possible, as the noise on the GS when cruising at high speed is a real problem for me, and had considered going for a Schuberth C3.
Unfortunately, it seems that too many people report bad build quality, and a significant number say that they have a major problem with noise on the flip-up models. I doubt that the shop will let me have one for an hour to ride in, so for the noise, all I have to go on are reviews, and they seem, at best, mixed.

Three helmets in general use:
Shuberth S1 - with Pinlock visor, lovely, light quiet helmet but lots of padding makes it quite claustrophobic (bought when my main other was a Shuberth C1 (a great big, noisy, heavy bitch of a lid)
Arai Tour-X - Bought cos it was de rigeur, wanted something well vented with peak for travelling in Summer, fitted with Fog City Hyper-Pro and I had to accept this is actually a really great helmet used it extesively for 3 years now.
Shuberth C3 - Bought at last year's NEC bike show, an awesome helmet, comfortable, light, excellent visors (low tinted sun visor and pinlock main visor). Everything I wanted in a flip, well made the wind deflector caught my chin so I removed it (easy enough to put back and I may well do come winter but for now just done the Holland trip and very happy with it. Though I understand the BMW System 6 is essentially the same helmet and according to one dealer I spoke to will retail at less than the Shuberth.
I have a Caberg Justissimo GT bought the previous year and what a toilet of a lid that is compared to any of the above - AVOID!!!

I've got the S1 pro. took about three months to get over the initial hit in the wallet - but for my big head its been a revelation. its been very comfortable both on the GS and the ducati. The guys who sold it to me also said it has the strongest visor on the market - given I've already had one close encounter with a winged beastie - I thought this was an added bonus! No issues with build quality - and the lining is a close match to Arai which dont fit me at all any more 
. Don't know whether it is heresay or not, but apparently the big helmet makers change their head moulds every few years - which explains why shoei used to fit and dont any more!

Had an S1 for 3 years most comfortable Helmet ive worn the flip down sun visor is a must if you wear glasses as it saves swapping from sunglasses when it gets dull or in tunnels etc.
Its also the quietest,Ive got a wardrobe full of others round the garage luckely the £375 shoei
that gave me a headache after an hour fits the wife and she finds it Ok.
Will definately buy another when the need arises.

Had an S1 for a few years now (three I think) and it's been OK so far. Had the visor coating peel off but not too badly to be concerned. Quiet compared to my Arai's (Tour-X and RX-7) but still wear plugs for long motorway journeys. The two little plastic fillers where the sun visor pops out have fallen out but that was after a fair few miles and I never bothered replacing them.
I just ordered a C2 from HG for £199 so I will know what that is like tomorrow AM and let you know.. My first flip helmet
thought it might be handy when taking out associates saves taking it off all the time at the roadside.
Out of all my helmets I prefer the Arai's for comfort and build and generally wear the Tour-X when the sun is low with a dark visor. Oh and it looks cool
I suppose helmets are like shoes - one for every occasion with different degrees of comfort and longevity...so I tell the wife!

Had a C2 for six months and had to send it back as it wouldn't lock up. Same thing happened again so it's going back again - this time for good.
When it was working properly I found it really comfy although a bit noiser than expected and I loved the flip down visor.
Not sure what to replace it with - back to the drawing board, it took me months to decide on the C2 in the first place

Could you please confirm what you mean by "wouldn't lock up"?
Are you referring to the visor not locking in an open position, closing automagically when in motion?

Old news now, but the C1 was the biggest piece of shit I ever bought. I will never buy a schuberth again. I am stating that here as even though it was so long ago. I feel very strongly about so how crap it was.

My local HG shop is getting an XS C2 sent down for me to try (XS was the right size in the C3, so hopefully the old one is the same).
Given the difference in prices (C2 used to be £350, S1 £220), is the C2 a higher quality helmet than the S1, with the S1 Pro being the "equivalent" to the C2?
I ask because there are no matt black C2s, but there is a nice looking matt S1 for about the same price. If I am genuinely getting a great bargain with a C2 at £199, then I'll get the shiny one, but if the S1 is as good a helmet, then I'll probably go with that instead, as I prefer the look.

I think your S1 pricing is a bit awry
The S1 RRP was £399 and the R1 was £329
New S1 Pro is about £460 -£500 for one with graphics
No idea about C series prices, as I have no interest in flipfront helmets

Ah, interesting. That means that the S1 that I have seen at about £220 is a bargain too. I think that unless I really like the cheap C2, I'll get the cheap S1.

I paid £195 today for a fancy graphics version..................plain were £175
I love my S1 - I got the pinlock visor and have never looked back. The only thing I don't like is the 2 star rating that SHARP gave it.
So, I was looking at a BMW System 6 at the weekend and it's absolutely fantastic! - expect for the price.
Infinity do seem to be shifting S1's for a very good price though.....
