R1150GS 2002 Single Spark ABS.

I'm going to replace my shocks. Can't justify the cost of Wilbers.
I'm looking for recommended suppliers - ideally in the EU - for YSS and Hyperpro
I realise Maxton are supplied from the UK only. No response to my enquiry yet about prices excl. VAT.

Any other info about sourcing these brands for a R1150GS would be welcome, e.g. manufacturer reference number,
is remote pre-load adjuster worth the extra expense, standard spring rates- soft/hard?

Thanks. (My original rear shock has been refurbed once before.)

For basic Maxton ( only available from the company) with hydraulic rear adjuster you will be looking at £1600 plus

Just put one of these on the rear only ( on the advice of Richard Maxton ). He says no need to put one on the front as it doesn’t do a great deal.
Rear with preload adjuster £710.

Cost me £1500 three years ago for front and rears for my r1200gsa lc

Bloody hell

That’s got expensive

Prices have gone nuts

When I bought my 1150 GSA new, I bought a brand new pair of Ohlins (with the rear being custom built for me) to go on, as the bike was built up out of the packing crate at the BMW dealership, Rainbow

They cost £750 for the pair, new

If cost is an issue, have you considered getting the OEM shocks refurb’d by Lukasz at T-Tech (Denz0 on the forum, here).

You’ll get night and day improvement, better than stock, and rebuildable units with nice shiny new springs set up for your needs… If I hadn’t already got Hyperpros fitted, that would be my choice at around 1/3 the cost

Thanks all. (Not familiar with multi-quote)

Louis.de - I never thought of the mass market suppliers.

Maxton not feasible at those prices. It could only be possible if the price is excl VAT. I'll be hit with local VAT and Brexit-related charges.

I may well try refurbing the original again. But it's high mileage now. And I don't want to be without the bike at the moment even for two weeks.

Yes, when I think of the price of Ohlins and Wilbers a decade ago they seem a bargain.

If any good I have a set front and back shocks for the 1150 GS I could sell you, so you could get one set refurbed
and stay mobile at the same time…..:thumby:

Lukasz is defiantly the way to go. Had my rear shock serviced and a slightly lowered spring fitted together with a YSS front which he supplied. As Paul said, the difference is night and day and done at the fraction of the cost of Ohlins etc....Fantastic service.

Denzo would be a obvious solution but ...
Deliveries from UK companies or even private secondhand parts will incur local charges - 23% VAT, Excise, and a post office handling. UK is no longer in the Single Market.
(BTW How is David Cameron doing these days? Shame about his expected Greensills big pay out.)

Louis.de has only limitied stock for scooters but FC-Moto look promising. Unfortunately they don't list fitment for moto models; only the YSS reference.
No problem I thought I'll cross reference on an other website but not so simple.
If anyone can confirm YSS references I'd be grateful.

Typical prices for YSS. Standard rear €423. Rear with remote €611.

Thanks again.
[EDIT] M Shocks. I didn't know of them. I'll take a look. Thanks.

i bought a new Rear YSS shock for my 1100 Pan in November from

Caferacerwebshop

based in Holland.

€387 delivered as far as i can remember.
Very happy with that so far.

Thanks, that's very useful.
Fc-Moto are still in the frame for YSS. I dealt with them recently for the first time and was impressed with good service.
No reply from Maxton unfortunately. Maybe they thought I was chancing my arm enquiring about prices excl VAT.

I rang them yesterday and did speak to a member of staff. Richard Maxton Is away at the north west 200

Sent you a PM

Hey what did you end up ordering? Ive just ordered a Maxton Rear for my 1100GS hopefully should have this in the next couple of weeks.

I had Maxton front and rear of my Honda ST1300, with remote hydraulic adjustment on the rear. A beautiful looking shock, almost worth framing and hanging on the wall!

However, in the years I had the Maxton rear shock on the Pan it blew the remote preload twice, one of which was while I was on a fully loaded month long tour (it was like riding a chopper) until they eventually removed the remote preload and refunded me for that bit. I switched to Wilber’s which were superb, and stood up to everything.

On the RT I’ve gone for Ttech supplied and fitted by Lucasz, been on for a couple of years and all good so far.

I'm going to replace my shocks. Can't justify the cost of Wilbers.
Have you considered Nitron? Excellent quality, UK based and recommended to me by Darren at MCT over the base Ohlins units in terms of reliability (for the sort of fannying around riding I do). Brook do a standard replacement at what looks like £550. I love mine!
