Anyone here using this combination? :confused

I've got the shorter ZTechnik screen and the Tobinators from my stock screen. The lower edge of the Z screen comes down far enough from the mounting plates to make adding the Tobes really tough unless you want to scratch up the screen real bad. Basically the bottom edges completely cover the Tobes and all the adjustment bolts.

It looks like the only way to do it is to cut off the bottom on the screen on both sides to make room for the Tobes. I'd rather not do this if there is a better way to do it that I'm just not seeing right now... :doh

Hi Numb

Yep, I've got that combination! I actually have the taller screen, but I believe the lower part is the same on both. I didn't cut the screen - if I recall, I checked out with Tobers the likely best position, then bolted the Tobinators in place (lower bolts only). I then offered up the screen to the Tobinators and checked their placement. Had to make a few minor adjustments until the top of the Tobinators lined up with the holes in the screen, but then it went on OK. If you cover the lower inside surfaces of the screen (around the holes) with masking tape, it'll prevent scratches.
I'll try and post a photo as soon as I can.

Don't cut that screen!

OK, that makes sense. Yes, the shorter Z screen is the same on the lower portion as the larger one. I'll give the tape solution a go as well.

You've answered my most pressing question however: you need to preset everything then put the screen on. I was just a bit disappointed that I couldn't adjust the fasteners on the fly a little more easily.

Yep - that's correct - tighten the lower bolts then fix the screen. Best is to gently tighten the bolts, fit the screen & adjust (without bolting it on at the top mounts), then pop the screen off, and tighten the lower bolts. Only takes a couple of minutes once you know what you are doing.

It's a bit of a faff for which I apologise, but you'll soon realise that once you have the correct position, you wont need to make any more adjustments at all. In fact, you'll be petrified of changing the angle in case you forget the best position and suffer a return of the buffeting.

Cheers

Andy

Thanks Tobers,

I think I've got it. You've saved me from cutting the screen, although I'm a bit disappointed I won't be able to use my new Dremel moto tool... :banghead:
