Zumo 550 mounting on R12RT

My 2010 RT has come with this satnav mounting on a mounting bar - pictured.
I'm told this is a Zumo 660 mounting ( the BMW version).
I want to fit my Zumo 550 mounting but it looks to be too tall for the space available.
I'd prefer to keep the satnav in this approx position as I can't read it if it's too close !
This must have come up before. What have you guys done ?

There is a neater version that fits like yours but is flat to the surface,just the ball mount raised.
I think it might be Wunderlich or Migsel.
I have got one on my RT with the 550,a d it sits perfectly.

I got the mount for the RT from Nippy Normans. Wunderlich I think was the manufacturer. Worked a treat and right in the line of sight. Picture below;

I have a 2010 RT and have my 550 fitted to it with what looks like the same mounting bar (BMW supplied one) as you have there. All the mechanic did with mine was fit a couple of rubber washer/spacers (self cut by him from some spare rubber I think) between the mounting screws for the mounting bar and the bike dash, which raises it slightly maybe only by a 1/4" at most.

The 550 does touch the dash at the bottom when tilted as fully forward as it can be but he fitted a small spare bit of the rubber on the dash directly under where the bottom of the 550 would meet, to stop it marking the dash.

Hope the above makes sense...........It works and looks fine!

Satnav mount

Only problem with the Wunlerlich mounting from Nippys is that the 550 stops me seeing the idiot lights on the dash. I'm going to have to work out a way of raising it a bit.

I have just ordered one of these yesterday and it seems to mount the Zumo 550 higher up so not blocking the dash lights etc. Sensible price too.

I have the same mount on my 2013 Anniversary model with a Zumo 550 you just need to make 15mm spacer to go between the mount and the cradle and it works just fine.
