Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me how to load maps onto my SD card, I only have a 2Gb Sandisk card, so if someone suggests a better card I can go get one. we are off to Romania in Oct, and each time I try and load the 2011 Europe maps it keeps telling me I only have 192MB of memory, which I presume is the internal memory for the unit.

Help greatly appreciated, cheers.

When uploading the maps, try telling Mapsource to save to a drive, not the device, and you can save the maps to the SD card, either through the Zumo itself or by putting the card in a reader.

As long as there is a directory on the SD card called Garmin, containing files with names like gmapprom.img and gmapsupp.img, you should be fine.

Thought I'd latch onto this thread rather than start another. Was at the shop looking to buy a Sandisk Ultra 8GB for my 550, only the bloke there said that SDHC cards won't work with GPS' and that I needed a standard SD card. wtf? All the cards on sale there (except for a 2GB) had SDHC written on it. Sounds like BS to me...or not???

I have a Zumo 660 and I have both a 4GB SDHC and 8GB SDHC. Both cards work fine in the Zumo. However, I have noticed that the Zumo reads the lower memory card much faster than the higher memory card. I have read other posts where the Zumo customer service people have told users to only use the standard SD card, but the feedback on the forums has been that the SDHC cards works just fine.

Hey Bert, cheers for that, am going to get a 4 or 8GB jobbie today, depending on how I feel at the shop today :D

Have a look here:

contains lots of info on loading maps to SD cards and, importantly, which files on the GPS you should also delete.

Have fun :thumb2
