Hi,

If I exceed the speed limit by just 1 mile an hour, the Zumo makes this annoying ding-dong noise. If you're going a bit faster it seems to make the noise more frequently.

Is there any way to get it to make the noise only once when you exceed the limit rather than keep doing it as presumably you've made a conscious choice about your speed and don't need it to tell you every few seconds:mad:?

I just switched the speed warning off, as it drove me up the wall after
a few miles, or you could just stick to the speed limit to keep it quite.

Hi Fuddy,

Yep, turning it off is probably where I'll have to get to, but it seems a shame:

You should be able to set a "margin of error" - say 3~4 mph over the limit where it will remain silent.

Imagine how hard it is to keep your speed at exactly 30mph!

One mph faster and you get beeped! Ridiculous - being focused on sticking exactly at 30 will annoy other drivers.

Come to think about it - how do you turn off the speed warnings? Can't see it anywhere in the settings...

i agree

I agree It is really annoying, i seem to remember i turned it of on my 550 but i too cant find anything about turning it off on the 660.

No doubt i will now be prooved wrong :D

It's in Tools/Settings/Proximity Alerts....I think.
Took some finding but I managed to turn them off.

I agree. If you could set a sensitivity to the alert e.g. 10% (say) it would be a useful feature, but having the alarm go off every time you do 31mph is nuts.

For such a good bit of kit, the 660 manual is the worst I have ever seen.

cheers

Thanks all,

Its actually under proximity points :nenau no wonder i couldnt find it :D

Thanks All too,

I am hoping / guessing that my "speed limit" problem is actually a "speed camera" problem, so hopefully changing the proximity setting will fix it.

Next time out will tell...

Out today, no more 'bing bing' or warnings on display.

Peace and quiet, but will have to be more cautious.

Speed limit warning

I took the new Zumo out today for the first time. As I accelerated down the ramp onto M61 southbound it pinged at me, but I couldn't read the little pop up that appeared, top middle of the screen. I went to GPS in the first place when I realised I could no longer read route instructions in my tanktop bag! By the time I had done about 6 miles, these pings and pop ups were getting to me, but I still couldn't make out what the thing was trying to warn me about. Every time I pulled onto the hard shoulder the b****y thing went off the screen!

I now believe they were something to do with speed limits, but on the M61 they often seemed to be prompted when going under a flyover - surely the thing isn't warning me of speeding on the cross street!:blast

I have now followed the advice on this thread and hopefully my concerns will now be eliminated. Thanks to all,:bounce1

I would just guess that the flyovers are where mobile speed checks pointing down to the M61 have been reported. Noticed the same on the M74 last week that most warnings were at bridges/flyovers.

I am surprised that for such an expensive unit that it does not have more features. My old Mio 269 running Miomaps 3.0 had more detailed views (Yes, before anybody says, I have set Zumo to most detailed level) and easier ways of setting warnings. Not being able to set Speed warnings to a user defined setting seems odd. I am sure on my Mio I have just set it to warn at something like 5% over the limit. Even in my base model Corsa 1.0 I can set the car to warn me when I go over a certain speed which I can decide myself (I choose 75mph). Anyway have just left my Zumo speed warning on as it will help to keep an eye Fuel Costs as well.
