I have a Zumo and I also have some Ultimate Ear in-ear custom buds. I do not wish to use Bluetooth and want to utilise a mic so that I can call my dearest without stopping and messing about.

I have bought a Garmin zumo mic but this means I now have a right cable mess.

What I want is an extension lead with a curly piece and a single socket (not 2 sockets - one for mic one for ears) so that this can plug into the Zumo and be plumbed around the bike to exit at the front of the seat. I then need a short extension with the single plug on to plug my ear-buds and mic into.

This way I can get off the bike and only have one plug/socket to think about.

I could do this by buying all the Autocom kit - but that's quite an expense just to tidy the connections up.

Any clues for a simple Zumo extension lead with a curly, plug and a single socket on?

Cheers.

Starcom1 do a simple kit with very high quality connections and curly cable to plug direct to the Zumo (no need for the Autocom type stuff, just the cable)

It'll come with the mike (boom or stick on) and cost about 30-40 quid though.
They have a version with no speakers and a 3.5mm jack right up at the helmet to use yer own headphones.

Cheers Padge - am looking at their very comprehensive kit now.

However it still a bit vague.

Their Zumo cable outlets to a single 3.5mm 3-pole jack.

The Zumo has a 2.5mm 2 pole inlet for the mic and a 3.5mm 3-pole jack for the audio out.
This means that it needs to return the mic inlet via the music outlet - and the only way this can happen is if you have some sort of intermediary 'VOX' or 'PTT' unit - in other words the starcom unit itself.

Their headset units are right as are the Autocom stuff.

If they made a zumo cable that outlet to their 5 pin plug then that would be exactly what I need but nothing like it is listed apart from a connector to a Kenwood 2-way radio... but I'm not certain that the Zumo uses the standard/same distance between the 2 jacks that the Kenwood uses or if the polarity on the poles is set up for stereo outlet on the audio given the Kenwood is a mono device. I think the 3rd pole on the audio is something to do with power supplt to the PTT circuit.

Since that's only a tenner I may just order the kit and be hopeful that the Kenwood polarity works - its just I would then have spent about 50 quid finding out.

But cheers for the pointer.:thumb I may mail them today and see what they say.
