Zumo Help

I have posted a couple of threads on this section recently. I just seem to be having one problem after the other with the Auto-com & Zumo set up. The latest is, can anyone tell me the correct way to activate the set up. I put the keys in the ignition, (a Autocom wired in to the accesory socket under the seat, 1200 GS). I then put the Zumo in the cradle. So far so good. When i start the engine, a warning appears that says along the lines of ''do you wish to continue on battery power''?. Why isnt it running on the bike power. I keep getting the battery icon at the top of the Zumo to show the battery power. I was told that it is because when i start the engine, the power drops. Can anyone tell me the best way around it.

Sounds like you've not hard wired correctly? if its asking if you want to continue on battery power its because its not actually connected to the bike Have you hard wired the zumo cradle to the bike? The zumo and the autocom are two different things entirely

Yep! Zumo goes straight to the Canbus at the side of the headstock, with £50 lead from Bahnstormer. It seems that when the bike is started is when it goes to battery. What is the correct way to put the Zumo on. Is it start bike and add Zumo. Zumo come on automaticly when Zumo is in cradle and ignition on.

It makes no difference to mine whichever way you do it... if the bike's running, and I clip on my 660, it powers up....

If the engine is off and ign off and I clip it on , it doesn't power up... and if the Zumo is on / engine on and I switch off the engine the zumo stays on for a short time then powers off following the message you are getting ...

What im trying to ask is..... When the ignition is on,bike not running, Zumo in the cradle and on, start the bike and Zumo goes on to battery mode. Is this right or should i turn off the Zumo and start bike then turn Zumo on with bike running. Sometimes i dont get any audio, this is because the Zumo is running on battery. Never had this trouble with a good old fashioned map. I am frightened to ringChainspeed in case i get sold another expensive lead.

As Bryn said, it makes no difference.

For some unknown reason your 660 is powering down when you turn the ignition on and start the bike. Ie. it is switching to its internal batteries instead of being powered by the bike's electrical supply.

The logical reason is that there is a fault in the connection between the Zumo / its cradle / the lead / the power to the socket behind the headstock.

Try gently cleaning the copper pins on the cradle and the contacts on the 660.

Try a different 660. Does that do the same?

Make sure the software on the 660 is up to date.

Make sure the lead is OK.

Make sure the socket is OK.

Failing that lot????

It probably makes no difference, but its a 550! Some one told me that when you start the bike, it (Zumo) detects a loss of power and that might be why the message about going to battery power comes up.
