If like me you've got fed up with the side stand that wants to flick up into your leg if you so much as touch the bike when the stand is down, then this modification is for you.
You will need access to a lathe or resort to using a file.
First remove the bolt that holds the side stand in place and then remove the sleeve from the side stand leg.
Now using a lathe (or file) remove the shoulder that prevents the metal curve thing (attached to the spring) from passing the bolt (photo 1). I left about 2mm of the shoulder on the sleeve to act as a washer for the bolt.
Reassemble the side stand, spring and bolt, then the side stand will stay down (photo 2). You may also need to shorten the bolt length slightly.
