Just getting to grips with photobucket, so hope this works....
Bought my 1100 last year with a black adv tank already on it, so decided to pursue this theme cosmetically.
Swapped the 2 saddles for a complete adv yellow/black rear end and had the silver surround/rack powder coated gloss black too. The laser can i fitted has been stripped, the pipework painted in matt black heatproof paint and the sleeve in gloss black. The belly pan is now gloss black too as are several other parts that were showing the age of the bike, like the torque arm and the footpegs.
Although clean when i bought it, i have lavished it with care over the darker months and fitted a stainless bolt kit throughout.
The only other bit i wanted to change was the front end, so I set about collecting the necessary bits-mainly 2nd hand, to do the job. After picking up a beak, i realised that bodging it on wasn't for me, so bought an 1150 subframe and all the necessary bits; oil cooler, clock surround and carrier, screen etc etc....
Managed to get it all bolted up today, so this is where i am currently. Am trying to sell some of the 1100 parts i removed to finance the headlights needed, then I'm done!
Look forward to criticism, not only of the bike but of my filthy garage!!

Cheers,Goose

If this works and anyone cares, i will drag it outside for some better pics....

because i could....?
I like to mod and fiddle with all my bikes, so it seemed a natural progression to me. I like the look of the 1150, but couldn't afford one last year, plus the 1100 is a better bike! Now i've got the best of both worlds, looks -to the uneducated anyway- like a more modern 1150, but with the reliability of the 1100....

Looks good Paul. You've done avery nice job. Congrats. :thumb

Can you fit an 1150gs head light and screen to an 1100gs? Easily........?
Agree on the looks being better on the 1150, but there isnt any other benefit of me changing to an 1150.

t'is a straight swap, but wouldn't class it as easy...nor cheap! but definetely do-able!

Yeah good point! But i like the useablity of the 5 gear box. Do you still get that with the 6 gear box? I have tried an Adventure before but didn't seem to be as useful. Probably me being stupid?

My previous bike was an R1100RS and the one criticism I had was that it could do with a 6th gear. When I came round to buy a GS I test rode an 1100 & an 1150. The biggest difference for me was the 6th gear which gave better economy than my RS and felt less frenetic iykwim.

1100 or 1150 are both cool but let's not mention the 1200 ;)

I agree! :thumb :thumb I'm enjoying my 1150 more because I can do some mods as I please. I felt the 1200 was too expensive to fiddle with. Strange though that i've neevr the slightest desire to fiddle with any cars I ever owned??? :nenau

if that was addressed to me, then i'm afraid the headlamp has been sold, as have most of the other bits, standard screen and the silver plastics are all thats left! Time to splash out on my new 1150 lamps though!!

Would like to see a picture of the whole bike and see what you have done....

I like my 1100, my mods are to make it different, and not look like something else, but interested in some of your ideas.
