cleaning 1150gs stainless pipes ?

having taken the bash plate off my 1150gs the back of the pipes are a bit crusty

They are stainless steel

whats the best way to clean them as Autosol is not going to be enough ?

Never had a problem just make sure you give the pipes a good wipe down after to get rid of any greasy finger marks, otherwise when the pipes heat up it will show.

I've had good results with harpic and a scotchbrite Put it on with a brush leave it a while scrub and rinse off.Wear rubber gloves of course
 
sand with 400 orbital sander then 30 mins on the buffing wheel

Use harpic, it's the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to make a big difference. You can polish up afterwards to get a perfect finish. Here's a before and after of my R1100S headers just after the harpic, no further polishing:

Belgom is great stuff. Seems to do nothing for ages and then suddenly boom, job done.
 
Are we really talking about Harpic the toilet cleaner?

yes really, Harpic Blue and now Harpic Power Plus. Have used Harpic Blue on the 1150 pipes and a really raggy set of Honda Blackbird down pipes. Bloody wonderful stuff. Just dont get any under ya foreskin though. :augie

paint it on and leave . You can see it working almost immediately. How long?...Depends on how bad; trial and error.
