Hi All - been trying to locate a source for Heidenau K60's front and rear for the 1200GSA.

I've found several threads but none of the suppliers given seem to list the right sizes (110/80 19 front 150/70 17 Rear). I see a couple of people have used slightly different sizes (1 size down rear, not sure about front).

So;

1) Are the standard sizes available in the K60?
2) If not, which sizes are folk using?
3) where can I get them?!
4) Same as the above for Mrs Berin's F800GS.

thanks,

ps - for a trip about 6k miles mostly tarmac but some dirt/gravel/rough roads and TKC's won't last

:blast. Didn't look hard enough

Found the tyres on mynetmoto.com

Now, I don't understand the markings

Rear:

HEIDENAU / 150/70 B17 M/C 69T TL K 60 M S

So, what does the B mean? T TL I assume means tub/tubeless. But there are 2 load ratings (60, 69) and what looks like 3 speed ratings (K, M, S).

Which applies to what?

On load ratings, what does this refer to? A rating of 60 = 250kg which is the weight of a wet GSA before I get on it!

The markings will be :

Rear: = which end of the bike it goes on:aidan

HEIDENAU = the manufacturer
150 = Tyre section
70 = profile, 70% of width
B = Bias belted. i.e not radial
17 = rim diameter, 17 inches
M/C = M0torcycle tyre?
69 = Load index, 325Kg
T = speed rating, 116 MPH
TL = TubeLess
K 60 = tyre model, K60
M S = Mud and Snow. Should be M+S.

Good luck with MyNetMoto. I tried ordering these form them after checking if hey were in stock. After 6 weeks of no tyres and no response to any of my emails I opened a claim against them through PayPal, and got my money back. Thanks to the plummeting value of the pound against the Euro I actually made money on the deal!

I did manage to order them through a UK based tyre importer, as recommended by Heidenau themselves. They ordered them in their next shipment, but they were not delivered. Heidenau cited that they had been shipped to South Africa instead :blast

I gave up trying ot get some so stuck with TKC80s; however, with the rising price of these would be interested to know if there is a reliable source.

MyNetMoto were great a couple years ago and these tyres were awesome on the 1150, however the price of the Euro and the popularity with German riders has really put the K60 price up. Two year ago it cost me £110 for two rears and a front delivered!

from the horses mouth :pullface

The fact is that the 150/17 and 110/19 were requested from an importer here in SA for us 1200 GS users. The first shipment we got and tested on the GS's were 140/17 rears and 100/19 fronts ... which work just fine and are cheaper. We got the first shipment in the world of the 150's because we requested and were involved in the development/testing of them. They had to make new moulds etc etc. and our importer worked on site with the manufacturer. There were a few small issues with the 150's trial batch - mostly from the tyres being used in extreme SA (read: HOT) conditions and at present the 150 compound is being modified. I am involved in the testing here in SA and ran one on my 1200 ADV and have now just fitted another from a new test batch just landed to my HP2. What I can say is that Heideneau is a first rate German company (makes other well know brands under license for the German market too ... including ones that have three letters stating with a T and a 80 thereafter:) and make genuine TUV spec tyres ie German tyres made in Germany not Korea etc...

The K60 is IMHO the best genuine 50/50 tyre for the big adventure/tailie bikes available. It gives excellent mileage and performs superbly both on and off road. Here in SA it is retailing considerably cheaper than the TKC and gives far better km's.

The 150 with the improved compound are slated for shipment in August.

Citybum, thanks for the translation, and also thanks for the heads up on mynetmoto.

Question is, are these available in the UK? anyone know?

Big Dom, what sort of mileage would rate these for for a 1200GSA?

Do not think the 150 is available yet - we are still testing it here in SA (have one on my HP2 as we speak). Due for shipment late August as I understand.
One should easily get 10-1400 km plus from a rear tyre

So do they only do them in black then:mmmm

Well, in for a penny - I've just ordered a set each for my 1200GSA and for Mrs Berin (dr JM's) F800GS. The rears are the same at 150/70 17 and a front in the correct sizes for each. Ordered on line with my netmoto, total price for all 4 shipped was £266. Seems very reasonable. Just have to see if they turn up....:augie

WooHoo:D

Tyres arrived - took a while as they were out of stock, but 1 set each for the 1200 and the 800 delivered to me for €302 isn't bad.

Will post pics of them fitted in a week or so

Tyres fitted to the 800GS.

Sorry about the odd orientation, my new camera does some kind of auto-rotate thing which gets interpreted by the photo website in a funny way:drool

I'm really liking the look of these tyres and am keen to see what you think of them when you've got some miles on them.

I'm hoping they will be suitable for my trip to The Gambia in the new year, I really can't be arsed with changing to TKCs half way there and want a tyre that will make the whole trip (approx 4,000 miles) on tarmac and piste.

Andres

PS: Is this the K60 'Snow' - just noticed that's what it's called on the mynetmoto site?

According to Vern, it's a Mud+Snow designation. I'm hoping they'll last 5k or so for an east europe/balkans trip, mostly tarmac but unavoidably some unsealed roads.

I have been using and testing these tyres here in SA for the manufacturer. The tyres even when really abused get a minimum of 6-8000km - some get twice this if babyed. Excellent and best 50/50 tyre available IMHO.

I've been thinking about fitting one of these Heidenaus to to back of my F800GS when the current TKC wears out, since it appears to be wearing out a good bit faster then the TKC on the front.

Anyone else tried that already?

I was looking at it and thought a mix of anakee front and heidenau rear might work on the 800 as a good mix.
