OK.... So I know this has sort of been cover before, but I'm not quite finding the answers I need from previous threads and posts.....

I've now fitted an Autocom Active Plus to my trusty steed, and hard wired my Garmin Zumo 660 into it with the very latest Autocom lead (part number 4066).
I have paired my IPhone with the 660 successfully, and all contacts and other call related data synchronises nicely. I can make and receive calls and hear the caller on the other end of "the line". I cannot, however, make myself heard as the microphone doesn't appear to be connected through?! :nenau

This whole setup sits alongside my Midland PMR, via a PTT switch into the Autocom, but don't believe that this is in play with the issue?

I currently have the Autocom lead plugged into Aux1 of the Active Plus unit.

Can someone please put me out of my misery as I've been trying to resolve this for 2 weeks......

Thanks in advance for support/abuse/cynicism!:thumb

The trouble is that once you speak you mute the mic, it's part of the design of your Autocom. Have a look here for a fix.

Thanks for the response and the link to the diagram!
Crickey! Autocom ownership is far from straight forward.....this is a blow having spent £45 on the correct autocom lead.......
Is it not possible to use a different aux input to manage the mic?

I'm quite handy with a soldering iron but don't fancy butchering my unit.......

Any more comments/experience out there?

Who sold you the lead? Was it the factory?

There may be more than one type of 4066 cable for all I know, because the factory do not list everything they make in their on-line catalogue.

The pins on Aux1 on your unit are Mic (tip), Speaker, 9V power and Earth.

The mainstream 4066 cable is designed for an Aux2-type-socket where the pins are Right Speaker (tip), Left Speaker, Mic and Earth. If you use the Aux 2 socket on your Autocom then you will have to remove the mute as Bumpkin says.

So it is absolutely essential to specify what Autocom unit you are connecting to and what socket must be used when purchasing cables.

The Active plus was designed for a Mono GPS and the Zumo is a stereo GPS. This is where the problem lies.

Hope this helps,

John

I know where you're coming from. Have been running a Nuvi 765 for a year and a half now, great unit, sort of the poor man's Zumo 660. It has all the right sockets to use the 4066 lead which I bought off the Autocom stand at the NEC last year. Just can't bring myself to open up my Super Pro Avi and attack it with a soldering iron and seeing as the mod will disable muting of other inputs when talking to a pillion there is a trade off.

I already have an isolated stereo lead for the sat nav for directions and music as well as a #1273 Bluetooth module for the phone. These work well but I was looking for control of the phone via the GPS but in reality it's just a nice-to-have that I can do without, I only use the phone for brief incoming calls anyway. The new still boxed and bagged 4066 lead will be going onto eBay soon.

The 4066 cable is not the way to connect the Active Plus to the Zumo and use the Mobile phone via the Zumo. You should use the Bluetooth module BTM-02A and optional cable BT-203
It is all explained here http://www.chainspeed.co.uk/product...%2d02A-Compatible-With-All-Autocom-Units.html
The "link disabled" refers to the optional power to the Aux1 port of the Active Plus - usually denoted by a sticker if the link is active. Check this out with Sam at Chainspeed if you decide to go ahead. Do us all a favour if you can and buy the necessary parts from him - we need to keep such worthy chaps in business.

I have no connection with Chainspeed other than as a satisfied customer.
