(Apologies if this has already been posted)

Just seen the new model satnav from Garmin. Looks like a cross between the 550 and the 660, but has a lifetime map update. Worth a look...

I'm not clear on what it offers over a 660.

The 350LM doesn't play .mp3s

Well that was worth waiting for! And over £400!!

It looks like it can hold the full European mapping on its internal memory, without the much discussed SD card malarkey required on the 660. I paid best part of £500 for 66o plus lifetime maps so it is a bit cheaper, too....won't be swapping, though.

I haven't seen any specs that indicate this as yet, what's your source may I ask?

It lacks the 3D building useless eye-candy. That should make room, within 4GB, for full European mapping... just. That's until the 2013.20 or 2013.30 update tips it over the balance... Won't the new owners be pissed off then :(

First line of the product description at the link provided:

"zūmo 350LM includes maps for the whole of Europe"

There's no SD card included as standard so I assume it's all there.

I want a sat-nav to navigate, not play music or store/show pictures.

Suits me.

I would expect it to hold full mapping for Europe as it is brand new. My 550 did when it was new.

It is when they update the mapping making it bigger that you have problems getting it onto the inbuilt hard drive..........we will see if they have built it with a significantly bigger drive to allow for reasonable updating in the future.

Don't think I will hold my breath though.

It's just a cut down Zumo660 with LifeTime Updates, unless they have increased the Internal Storage.

I'll be hanging onto the Zumo660 for a while longer I think.

As per my earlier post, without the 3D buildings, all of Europe will fit onto 4GB. That statement doesn't necessarily mean that it'll all fit on at once anyway, maybe just that it comes with City Navigator Europe...

Maybe I'n being too cynical... :nenau

I have no knowledge what size the internal memory is, hopefully it's sufficient to last for a few years at least whilst updating the whole of Europe on the device. Garmin will have seriously shot themselves in the foot if it's only 4GB though as that will be exceeded very soon.

Good point re 3D...hadn't spotted that wasn't included (not that I would be bothered). Surely Garmin wouldn't have been stupid enough to release a new product without allowing for a good few years' ("lifetime's") growth in map size, would they? Mmmm....

What.........you mean like they did with the 550????????? :blast

²If you purchase a nüMaps Lifetime subscription (sold separately or bundled together with certain GPS models), you will receive up to 4 map data updates per year, when and as such updates are made available on Garmin’s website, for 1 compatible Garmin product until your product’s useful life expires or Garmin no longer receives map data from its third party supplier, whichever is shorter. A product’s “useful life” means the period during which the product (a) has sufficient memory capacity and other required technical capabilities to utilize current map data and (b) is capable of operating as intended without major repairs. A product will be deemed to be out of service and its useful life to be ended if no updates have been downloaded for such product for a period of 24 months or more. Unless otherwise stated, the updates you receive under the subscription will be updates to the same geographic map data originally included with your Garmin product when originally purchased. In some instances, your Garmin product might not have sufficient memory remaining for you to load an update to the map data, in which case you will need to either (a) select reduced map data coverage for your updates, or (b) purchase separately a microSD™/SD™ card (if and as applicable to your Garmin product) and load all or a portion of the map data coverage for your updates to the card and insert the card into the microSD/SD card slot contained in your Garmin product. If neither of the measures in (a) or (b) can be used to address your product’s lack of sufficient remaining memory, then Garmin may conclude that the “useful life” of your product has expired. Garmin may terminate your nüMaps Lifetime subscription at any time if you violate any of the terms of this agreement or your subscription. Your nüMaps Lifetime subscription may not be transferred to another Garmin product.
Nice of em to put this disclaimer on...

As one of the biggest gripes, from current users, is about the current units noty having sufficient memory you think they would have made a point about these new models having ample room for the future evolution of the mapping data.

The fact that they haven't alluded to this in the slightest or stated the memory capacity indicates to me that it's the same.

Mind you, I'm hoping to be proved entirely wrong...

There are reviews and video showcases appearing all over the web for the 350, we need someone to plug one in and find out how much internal storage there is.
