Thought I would have a go at advice for all those who post - 'Which one?'

Buy the new BMW Nav 3 (soon)
If you can't afford that, buy a Garmin 2720
If you can't afford that, buy a Quest 2, or a second-hand 2610
If you can't afford that, buy a Quest 1
If you can't afford that, buy a second-hand StreetPilot III
If you can't afford that, buy an i3 (and a plastic bag)

If you can't read the above, buy a 276

If you want to be different, buy a TT Rider. Then sell it and buy one of the above.

Be veeeeeery careful buying off eBay. Garmin stuff requires coupons & unlock codes, and there's some dodgy stuff about.

ps. I'm only half joking

Unless you want real time traffic updates, in which case its a 2720 or a Tom Tom Rider, unless you also want Bluetooth conectivity with your phone, in which case its a Tom Tom Rider.

I disagree.

Decide what you want a GPS to do for you.

Decide how much you can afford.

Buy one that meets both criteria.

If all you want to do is go hillwalking, a BMW Nav III is worse than useless.

First you should decide how you will use it and any secondary uses.
This will be different for everybody

Then you look at which models meet your criteria.

There is no one 'best GPS'

lol
First you decide how much money the missus will let you spend.
Then you use the list at the top.
Then you spend another 20% fixing it to the bike.
Then you spend ages on this forum telling everyone that the one you bought is, by far, the best.

Exactly!

This means that whichever model you choose you will be happy with it! :thumb

(as long as you choose a Garmin that is.....) :eek

I think "Garmin 60C" should be on 4th line. It's a great adventure GPS...

Al...

I agree, although why don't they increase the pathetic 56k memory, or let you put SD cards in it..?

So that they could sell you a 60Cx a couple years later of course!

Honestly though, I traded up from a Vista... 24k and serial download... the 60C was like a dream compared to that...

Considering that me and the wife travel fairly long distances to get away from The Netherlands, to some place with a bit of terrain, I could use more.... but then again I have an excuse to take the laptop with me... I have too many new toys to try to convince SWIMBO that we need another upgrade... :o

If you want the 'best' GPSR, just wait a few years until this one comes out.
It's a top-secret picture of the prototype of the BMW Navigator XXVIII, due out in 2011... :D

Seriously - it's a picture of the all-Garmin avionics suite in the new Cessna Citation Mustang very light jet.
