Went to the open day yesterday and not really keen.

It seems to be getting more like a normal road bike. I know most of us spend nearly all or time on the road but I do ride year round.
There is little room for a fender extendeder or crud catcher so are they to become like KTMs and need a wash every ride.

I don`t expect to find out what its like soon, as the part-ex price was stupid low.

What do new owners think?

Nick

i think it looks superb, better for me in just about every area. i'll chop mine in for one next year i think.

Had mine for two days now and it just keeps getting better and better - it is so good that everyone will be trading in their old models, if you are thinking about it, do it soon because the re-sale value of old 1200 will start to drop as the market gets flooded with the old tractors :D

Go on tell us your part ex price :aidan

Yup.... Be interesting to know?

Sat on one today and quite liked certain aspects.

Now makes me wonder what trade in I would get on a fully spec 2009 with 18k on the clock?

Also be interested to find out what sort of cost a full spec LC is with ESA, heated grips and panniers etc?

That said..... I would be quite happy riding my current GS for a good few years yet and stay repayment free ;)

Personally have looked twice NEC and pre launch on friday and OK if it rides great then it should be an improvement on the current model but this photo just gets me :-

2007 v 2013 they are so similar on the road unless you know your bikes you would think it was the same bike, the only true give away is the LED running light on the ones with it. And dare I say it the family resemblance to the F800 GS is pretty strong.

Before I jump I'll wait for adv version no point in going backwards from an ADV to standard bike IMHO and let the beta testers finish sorting out the bugs :aidan

Backwards? That's debatable. Much as I like the longer tank range and screen on the Adventure, I much prefer the lower centre of gravity, stiffer suspension and better handling of the standard GS.

stupid

Go on tell us your part ex price :aidan

They said it was good news as it was a sort after model with wire wheels then started at £8500?
When I said that was stupid they went to £9600

This was for a 2011 30th ani GS with premium+Dyn full luggage and only 7000 on the clock.
I rode home feeling 110 bhp is enough and still very happy with a great bike.

I really like the fact that the new bike looks similar to the old, it just seems like a natural development of the 1200 and every part is different which they have achieved very cleverly. I'm booked to take one out next week on a test run, I'm not in a position to buy one at the moment but hope to be by the end of the year.So really looking forward to taking it out.
I popped down to Riders in Cardiff yesterday, to have a good look at it. I think it looks great, and also looks very well built. The only slight disappointment i found was the plastic tank panels, the plastic wind deflectors to the bottom right and left of the screen and the two side panels did seem a little flimsy and made of quite a low quality plasticky plastic ( if you know what I mean) I don't think it will ultimately detract from the bike and I know they want to keep the weight down. That was my only negative thought.
If it rides as good as they say(tank slapping aside:D)I'm sure it will be a huge success. :thumb
I was a little surprised to hear Riders in Cardiff haven't got one going out until April/May:nenau

Looks like the prices of the old model are due to go down a bit way overpriced!

If it's water you could drink it ;)

Me, I don't think I would, and lets ignore that it's still got fins on it for air cooling, just like the airheads :thumb

If you wanted to be really hardcore, you could use contact lens cleaning solution, then drink that when you break down in the back of beyond. That's what all the rufty rufty adventurer types are drinking now...
