is it possible to pull the seal ( after the output flange is off) from the outside of the box ? i.e. without taking the end cover off and pushing it out.

any observations appreciated :)

:) :) :)

And its possible to fit the new one (but remember to seal the breather notch with silicone it its a Paralever).

Bob.

paralever seal coming from motorworks, so i guess no notch !

got to get the flange off first tho.......

The notch is on the top of the casing not the seal.

You can either use a seal puller tool if you can get it in somewhere without damaging the shaft surface

Or alternatively get a self tapper screw that can go through thin metal and screw that in carefully through the seal and then use that as leverage to pull out.

Someone else might have easier better methods worth sharing :thumb2

If you are going to use a self-tapper perhaps it would help if you used a bit of bent strip metal and screw that to the oilseal and use it as a handle, it might be worth consider making two of them and get an even pull. See sketch. I've never actually done that myself, having only simply screwed the self-tapper in and pulling on that with a pair of pliers. Good luck anyway.

if you can attach the self tapper to a slide hammer, it makes it easier.
