Frame work previously missed off !

The bars will protect the front of the bike but some part of the rear of the bike still has to make contact with the ground and that is always the rear foot peg. I don't mind this as it protects the fuel tank. That said, that poor old foot peg really does come in for some abuse. I cracked the plastic on mine and needed some superglue to repair it
As for the SW Motech Panniers. They leak like crazy! All four corners leak![]()

Sorry slightly off topic but...
Dean:
Which windscreen is that on your bike?

Hey there John, have you tried using some kind of silicone or rubberizing
I posted something on this previously, check the link from post 436 onwards

WhatI have some stuff in a mysterious grey bag that is used to seal the fuel tanks of jet fighters.

Got my varios at the discount price - including coded locks. Trip round france saw everything for camping (tent, sleeping bag, stove, etc) stored in the right box and all bike stuff in the left.
Work perfectly, available at launch, expandable, look good, maintain resale value.
Much the same experiences as Argonaught, although I would add that having a single key is a bonus - especially as the area around the ignition is liable to scratch with large numbers of keys bouncing around on it.
I didn't plump for the BMW inner bags - that would've added another £130+.
Dave at Mane Event told me that the same inner bags for the 1200GS fit the 800, so a quick crawl on eBay found a pair for £30 from the US. Good quality stuff - same as ManeEvent - but gets the £/$ value.
I've uploaded some views of the vario panniers fixed to the bike, both closed and extended and with some views of the mountings. I've also included a pic of the the bags I got from the US on fleabay - they're good quality gear and a perfect fit.
Go here if you want some - they have 4 more available as of today. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-...ryZ35580QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The Kappa box is the one I had on my old 650GS - I've fixed a universal Monokey plate (£15 from getgeared.co.uk) on top of the Touratech alloy luggage rack until the F800GS Givi mount is available. I now have the option of a top box for commuting or putting a roll bag on for touring - and also a high-level brake light.![]()

Oo thats my bike lol.... with the stahlkoffer ones lol.![]()

What
Are they leaking in the UK![]()
you didn't include mine: alpos.
or you could get what most bona fide overlanders use and get soft panniers!![]()
This picture shows my wifes luggage combination.
SW Mocheck QD Pannier frame £145.00
Givi 21 Panniers £95.00
Small Givi Top box £35.00
Mounting plate - 2 bits of 3/4" nb tube, extra long set screw and the Base supplied with the top box.
This combination Carried more than enough for an 18 day camping holiday to the Alps. The bike was solo, and I carried a bit more gear on mine but I did not have to carry that large toiletry bag or undies, after all it was only for 18 days.
Cheap and usable on different bikes. Not too wide and very affordable. Proven tumble proof and robust enough. When not in use, ie 50 weeks of the year, the pannier frame removes in about 60 seconds.
