► Lights, indicators, electrics and alarm

Looking good Jon.

I assume that it would also be easy enough to rig up a badolier with those lights and plug it into a power point on the bike.

You could then wear the bandolier and be far more visible in low light conditions :)

Just an idea........... :)

Matt

As yet I don't know how long the power cable will be, but if it's successful I may adapt them for on body use. :thumb2

Tim Cullis pointed out last year the problem with any light setup on the hand guards is winter time. Most of us want to use muffs and thus any lights get obscured. I hope my velcro solution will give me flexibility to pull them off the TT hand guards and stick them onto the muffs for winter use.

now all I have to do is wait for pay day and order the bits

how would they look on the vertical forward facing section of the Adventure Spec bars?

That is an option too. from the photos of the strips I reckon they are a centimetre wide. The trouble with putting them on the crash bars is that the cable has to span the gap between the crash bars and the body of the bike. Plus the bars are rounded. There is actually a flat strip on the panels that faces forwards that runs down from just behind the indicators. It's the area where the screws hold the panels on. I'll do another mock-up to show you what I mean.

on a side note has anyone replaced the small headlight bulb with an LED replacement. Cant think of the exact name of it. The small bulb that comes on when you turn the key but don't start the bike. It's always on but adds a yellow tinge to my ultra white HID. I know I'm being picky now.

you mean something like this, saw it on someones bike in the forum, not sure who's though:nenau

perhaps. I'm not sure of the measurement. I have a recollection of a Spanish guy who did a video of fitting HID's and he replaced the little bulb with an led. There is also an American guy who fitted a garage door opener in his F800ST and he too replaced the bulb with an LED. I just need to find those vid's and the parts.

You just need to be careful that those LED wedges aren't too directional... it looks like there's going to be a lot of light emitted in the direction it's pointed, but jolly old incandescent filament bulbs have virtually spherical light output which is caught by the reflector...

YMMV of course...

and here we are... job done

I bought these for £9.99. You can get them cheaper from Hong Kong which is probably where these originated from in the first place...

I've just velcro'd them on and wired them into a Centech ap1. :thumb

They have nothing to do with TT other than they are stuck onto the TT handguards...

I'm just not sure about that look Jon. Do you not think it turns your steed into the two-wheeled equivalent to the clio boys in the car parks on a sunday night? and don't give me the 'i don't care because it helps me be seen by other road users' spiel, cos i know you like to look good ;)
On top of that, it highlights the far too conspicuous touratech logos on your hand guards that want to be removed! do you not have an ethical dilemma about advertising a manufacturer who charge you so much to advertise them, even if they give you a bed indoors?? when they start sending me free gucci for the bike, then i'll consider being a brand whore...until then 'No Logo'.:nenau

It is border line chav wagon which is why I velcro'd them on. I may move them. I wouldn't dare give you the road safety spiel as I know that you know I'm a poser :D

I do want to remove the TT logo now that my allegiances have changed somewhat. :augie. They appear to be glued down and coated instead of stuck on.

How did you find out about the hotel Touratech? Were you amongst the crack adventure bikers that deemed 3celsius too chilly to sleep out in :augie or did you read it on the Sibirsky ride report?

let me know when you are out and about on this grassy island and I'll say hello and we can compare notes... doppelganger :beerjug:

I covered mine with some 3m black reflective tape. I didnt want to yank them off in case it damaged the underlying surface.

mine started coming off of their own accord, but then i helped them with the use of a heat gun and some tar and glue remover ;)

i will actually be at a festival at the cheltenham racecourse at the end of august (bank holiday weekend). davidgibson999 and i will be travelling down through wales on the thursday and camping that night at the forest fields campsite. we'll then be heading on to cheltenham the following morning. so, if you're around and about, it would be good to see you! :aidan

stone guard

Thought I would try my hand at a little bit of fabrication, Couple of lengths of 4mm stainless roundbar, stainless baking tray, couple of stainless washers, shit load of welding, grinding and a splash of paint.

Total cost of materials about £25.00

At that price they're a no brainer so I've ordered mine. Anything to help be seen. A good find and a bargain so thanks for passing on the link :thumb2:thumb2

I should mention that they are not really blue, the camera does its own thing sometimes :blast (although they do sell the blue ones as well)
