06 to 08 GSA - initial thoughts.

Have fitted the Micatech panniers to my 08 GSA. It came with the standard BMW pannier rails fitted, so this may not be standard on all GSAs, but I didn't have drill/fit the Micatech rear fitting clamps; simply reused the existing torx bolts.

The pillion pegs appear to have changed slightly - the mounts wouldn't fit flush, so I had to "mill" some of the mount bracket away.

Underneath the inside front part of the tank on the 08 GSA, on the left as you look at the bike, I've noticed "an hole" with a couple of brass nuts moulded into the tank - looks like some tubular thing goes there. Anyone have any ideas what?

The charcol canister thing for the American market perhaps?

Was that you at the Texaco near Circencester, large black panniers with stripe markings?

I thought it may be that, but this post implies it is fitted on the frame behind the air filter.

The charcoal cannister mounting position on the 2008 GS has been moved to underneath the left side of the fuel tank, sounds like the same on the GSA.

Perhaps the fiches are incorrect then, as I can't see any difference

Could it be the fische have not been updated for the 2008 models?

On the 2008 GS the mount looks like this
