07 1200gs decat ?

Is there any thing on here a-bought decanting standard headers on a 07 1200 GS I've had a look but can't find any thing I want to do the job over Easter I've got a good idea of how to do it I think but would like to see how some one else has done it

AFIK you just cut the cat open rip the gibbons out and weld it back up !

Not sure that its as good an option as some proper de cat headers though which often come up for sale on here and on which you will always get a good proportion of your investment back so my advice is to buy some and keep the standard ones for re fit when you sell the bike

When you do decat and before getting a remap does the bike through up an error code and will it do any damage if run before the remap?

Piece off piss you need angle grinder with thin disc & steady hand then of course a welder to seal it back up.

When you cut though there is a 2nd tube inside which might be spot welded on,mine was but brute force wins worth removing it as per photo I put masking tape on or you can draw a line.

Once removed I drilled big holes though the cat then hammered away between them to remove it never had any running probs infact it ran better smoother too.

Oh no error codes that I know of show up ?

There is no after cat O2 sensor so the ECU wont know if its got a cat or a dog in the exhaust.

An aftermarket header is a good option as it will work a lot better with the remap than the standard system. Get one used if you can - they can't exactly wear out.
