100,000 miles

OK ... I know some of you have 'bike's over the 100,000 mile mark, but did you have them from new? Did you do it in five and a half years?

Posted in order to tell the doom and gloom merchants to feck off :P

F800GS bought new March 2008

15 front tyres
19 rear tyres
6 chains and sprockets
7 head bearings
9 sets rear pads
1 set front pads
2 rear discs
2 sets rear wheel bearings
1 set front wheel bearings
1 alternator/rectifier

Cost? Don't give a fuck :pullface

If this bike disappeared in a puff of smoke today it owes me nothing ;)

Always genuine parts fitted, without reservation, without regrets. DID Professional chains after initial warranty period. Serviced by myself from the start but with help and guidance from those that know ... you know who you are, thank you :thumb

Is my cheque in the post Mr Wheeler ???

Fantastic pics Micky!

Mines on 27k now, gives me plenty of confidence in the bike to read your posts!

Keep on trucking!

I take my cap off to you sir. :beerjug:
Thats exactly what bikes are for, to be used and you have done just that.
Well done. :thumb

Only got 70k on me 12, but I have one of those jobs where you have to work until 15 minutes before you die.

Crack on!

:beerjug:

How many rear pads?

I know :nenau

5,5oo miles per rear tyre, are they tourance?
ATB Paul

Ordinary Tourance, always the Tourance, I like the Tourance :thumb
Whenever I've dropped it it has always been my fault ... not the tyres

I always change the tyres and the chain and sprockets well before they are really required though :rob

Stationary picture of 100k?

Pussy :D

See above ... I know, I'm a Pussy :nenau

Well I couldn't have done it without you buddy, that's a cert :thumb
Sausage rolls Wednesday or Thursday ;)

Cleaned it today, took all day over it, just a brake to watch MotoGP, then sat in the garden and had a couple of biers with her :beerjug:

Look ... no corrosion. Used through the winters :D

Some of the fittings'n fasteners have a little rust on them. I'll change them when I have the time ;)

Paint is wearing off the engine casings though ... must write to BMW about it :blast

Thanks for that Skid :blush

As an aside, in those 100.000 miles ...

Clutch cable adjusted once, early days, never been touched since. Considering the stick it got slipping the clutch off roading in Morocco and on the Stella Alpina Rally, in Turkey, Iran and Pakistan .... simply incredible :thumb

Valve clearances still within given tolerances .... never been adjusted :thumb

OK, I know, head bearings :blast

:beerjug:

Micky, a brilliant achievement, on a brilliant bike ...Well done mate :beerjug:

I just clocked up 46,000 yesterday, with no failures or breakdowns, my steering head bearings are getting a tad notchy and will be replaced this week.

PS
The Aux lights I bought off you a few year ago are still going strong :D

Great news Mickey! Well done :thumb

Hope mine keeps going long after that mileage too. Got it in January with about 16.5k miles on it and courier use is piling the miles on a bit too quick. :(
