I'm off to have a look at and 1100gs,although it's not advertised as an Granada Dakar it is in the right colours and the right year.
Anyway to tell visually if it is a Granada ?

Steve

That one in Hull?

Looks right & it's the right year 1999

Looks straight enough

One tip

If you get it, put the stock exhaust on, they run much better & flog the Remus

Nice project :)

Rarer than a rare thing from rarington.

If it's the real thing, it should be registered mid to late 1999. There were only 200 of them produced of which 37 came to the UK.

Here's mine :thumb2 but the photo was taken almost 15 years ago now :D

38. the extra being mine - imported in early 2000 with zero miles and then promptly repainted Black by the original owner. clocks and headlamp replaced at the same time.

I took this one stage further. I'm not a great fan of black bikes.

It always struck me as odd that BMW took the exclusivity 'shine' off the 1100 - by producing the 850 variant in the same colour. And it seems there are a fair few of them about - Ive seen more 850s in this colour that 1100s.

Well,I'm now the owner of a 99 Granada Dakar R1100gs. 42,000mls (mot's and early service history would suggest it's genuine)

It's in very good condition apart from much of the silver powder coating which is definitely showing it's age especially on the heads, barrels, front casing and wheel centre hubs.

I've got a new kitchen to fit and a whole house to decorate before I can think about having a good look at it, so
I think I'm going to run it for a while and get to know it. Then see what can be done about what needs doing.

Strangely!! I don't know if the bike was supplied by Wollaston's from new ? it certainly had it's 600ml service there which was FOC,
but in section 3 of the reg document (Special notes)it says the vehicle was registered overseas.

Is there a register that lets you check a bikes history ?

It's got a Remus exhaust which will remain for now but will be replaced by the brand new looking original when I do the work on the powder coating.

Engine sounds as good as a good thing and I can only say I wish the gearchange on my 2013 wc was as sweet as the one on this bike !!!

It's going to be nice to have two very similar but very different bikes at the same time.
