1100 indicator question

Caught my front left indicator with my shoulder today - while cleaning the brakes.

wrapped some black tape round as a temporary measure.

Though I've seen that touratech minis are recommended - frankly my budget cant stretch to that this or next month.

My question is... though it looks like a rigmarole taking the front apart to change it over - will the new one (which im ordering tomorrow) simply clip on - or will i need to do any soldering or indeed need any special tools. or does the wire and connector simply feed through?

looks like i will have to replace the stem as well...

sorry if I seem a bit naive... never had to do this before.

Take the lens off & remove the wires (pull off) make a note where they came from ,then undo the nut on the back & it will pull over the wires then fit the new one easy

Replacing an indicator stem on an 1100 GS ?

thats a headlight off, remove cover the underneth , then undo the nut that holds the stem on .

I've been using "temporary" tape for a couple of years since a pigeon took out one of my indicators. I reckon it's permanent

Thanks steppers... I'm not sure if I'll need to replace the stem, but as a new ones only a few quid I'll order one anyway.

I'd already found thru the search thingie how much of a rigmarole replacing the entire thing is... was worried about the wiring more than that.. wether it would feed through with no problems.. or not.

but as always i appreciate your help... and confirmation of the procedure.


Incidentally I managed to get hold of a uk spec exhaust thats had little use... £25 just waiting for my finances to sort itself out before i get it fitted.


CJG... I dont mind wear and tear on my bike. the scars of use (as it were) but an indicator held together with tape isn't me at all. and given the number of nasty speed bumps i go over daily.. don't think it would last very long anyway.
