1150 bottom yolk ball joint seal

I've just dropped the wheel and taken the mudguard off to fit a fender extender and noticed that the rubber seal on the link-yolk ball joint is perished. I can see what looks like copper washers...
Is there an easy way of replacing it?
And I'm guessing that seized mudguard bolts on the fork legs is pretty standard story- drill out job?

There is a place in the USA from where you can get just the rubber boot. From BMW, you have to get the whole ball joint.
The copper washers are actually spring clips.

What I did was a length of bicycle innertube, probably a 2.00 tube, and slipped that over and then used 0.032 lock wire to hold it in place.
Been good for about 12 months

Clean the ball joint good and proper and repack with plenty of grease.
I probably used thixogrease

I have this saved on eBay. I have not bought or tried it, but it was from this site that someone posted it aa a usable replacement. For £3 it's worth a punt:

The nut is very tight, a bit of heat to release the thread lock will help.
When refitting a socket with a cut out will make life easy to hold the central Allen screw. Of the top of my head I can't remember the size, but you can make your own from an old spark plug socket or buy a diesel injector socket tool.

Thicksogrease? Great name- I have molybdenum grease, will that do?

I love the bodge approaches esp the innertube and socket with a hole in it!
