quick question, do i need to remove the swingarm itself so i can remove the drive shaft? ive removed the final drive, and cant see how the driveshaft can be removed any other way, ive checked on google and there seems to be people who say you can, and people who say it cant! anybody done this? i think my uj joint is wrecked.
thanks dj

Do a search on here in the font of wisdom, good luck.

I had an issue with the driveshaft on 1150GSA recently and am fairly sure it was too thick to pass through the narrow section in the swingarm so will require swingarm removal in my humble opinion, however I'm happy to be corrected.

I had this issue on my 2003 GS which I sold only 3-weeks ago.
I was replacing the bevel-box bearings (at 4-years and 17K miles) but couldn't separate the driveshaft at the splined joint resulting in it comming off at the back of the gearbox. I removed the swing-arm casing and took it down to a local workshop where they separated it at the spline using oxy acetylene allowing me to remove the two sections of the driveshaft. As I felt the UJ was not in perfect condition and may have been affected by the heat (unlikely) I purchased a new short section and refitted it making sure the splines were well greased. Refitted it was then perfect for the remainder of my ownership (6+years).
