Guys - looking for some info on removing the damage inflicted by a prev owner - I can live with the 'blued' headers but the rest of the system looks rough - stained & pitted,

any of you had success with polishing these out ?? :nenau

On the headers wet and dry with progrssively finer grain. Then wire wool, then Autosolve then Autoglym fine paste + lots of elbow grease.

If you can take them off and have access to burnishing soap and a burnishing wheel the job will be a lot easier.

Good Luck! :thumb

They all do that sir!

and

Yes, some owners have done wonders with various combinations of wet 'n dry, steel, wool, solvol autosol, elbow grease, eye of newt, wing of bat, goose grease, virgin's blood, etc, etc, but most of all, lots of time and effort. :thumb

If you go down this road instead of riding the thing, don't forget to give us some before and after pics!
